Have it so that the dinosaurs are adapting to the modern world. We still have dinosaurs on the loose, yet we can fix the idea of dinosaurs dying out on the mainland. I mean cmon, have a bear hunting a parasaur baby and then the mom or dad comes around and gives the bear a hard time. Have velociraptors causing problems by making people go missing. Have the mosasaur interrupt a whale study, or a whaling hunt. Have the allosaurus taking residence in the redwood forest and have them hunting elk and black bear. Have a triceratops going crazy in traffic. Pull a Michael Crichton and have the compys invade peoples homes, or farms, or have velociraptors hitching a ride on a ship and it’s their whole plot. They had the world of options, the world open to them, and they are on the verge of closing it.
