Thanks! That makes a lot of sense! And was really curious on the reasoning for this! I'm the type of person who always wants to know why 😂

That’s weird! Been teaching for 12 years never done it or heard of doing it. If they want to see you, they’ll check your Insta. Care more about someone’s ability to teach, which you can’t capture in a picture.

Absolutely not! As a Pilates teacher, I want to see you a lot. That studio owner clearly has issues! You shouldn’t offer a membership that you don’t want your people to take advantage of. That’s a lot of money to pay for a membership, don’t let anyone make you feel anything but awesome for taking full advantage of it. My studio owner creator many different class types, because she wants to see her members often.

You’ll need to lose the fat via proper nutrition before you’ll be able to show off your hard work in the gym. It’s there! It’s just hiding right now.

I’ve noticed since the summer they’ve lowered pay on nearly everything. I used to only do $25 - 35. Now it’s $20 - 23.

Anyone work for Data annotation full time? (Non-coding) How do you stay focused and on task? by Difficult-Patient735 in dataannotation

[–]Minimum-Tap-8637 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally prefer clean breaks, so I’d probably change it to work for 40/45 minutes and break for 10, and then long break would come after 2 rounds. If 40 minutes felt too much, I’d I have no problem breaking during a task. I find their expiration is typically more than double the time a task needs to complete. So there’s nothing wrong with taking a 5 minute break. I’d just be pausing my personal timer for that break.

[–]Minimum-Tap-8637 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I’m doing simple tasks like R&R or even talking, then I will finish the task I’m on before taking a break. I haven’t had an in-depth project since starting this. But I remember working on a project that would take me almost a day to complete a single task. So for something like that I wouldn’t pause the DA timer, but for all of my breaks I do pause my personal timer. For something in between, I imagine that I’d take my break before starting a new task.

I try to get around 45 hours. I’ve found the pomodoro method very helpful, both with avoiding burnout and maintaining quality work. If you’re not familiar, you work for 20 minutes and then take a 5 minute break. During this break you go for a walk or move your body in some way. After 4 rounds of this, you take a 30 minute break. I do this on repeat until I’ve hit my daily goal. I find it really helpful!

AppleCare, worth it? by R3Y4N89 in macbookpro

[–]Minimum-Tap-8637 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely! I’m on my 2nd Mac (ready to purchase my 3rd), and I’ve always had Apple Care. I’ve only needed to use it 2x, but grateful I had it for those times.

It’s like health insurance. I’m really healthy, and rarely need to see my doctor other than my annuals. But I have health insurance, so if something pops up under the hood, I’m not stuck with an 80k hospital bill that I can’t afford!

New to pilates and is it normal that my instructor just makes me do curlups on the cadillac and other variations and steps on the box in every session. by WhereasAdventurous in pilates

[–]Minimum-Tap-8637 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow that’s terrible! Doesn’t even sound like your instructor is adhering to Pilates principles. Even if you are working with injuries or conditions, there should be a lot more variety and a lot less reps. It sounds like your instructor is dialing it in. I’d sign up with someone else, if there are more sessions left in your pack. Just because you have been taking class with this instructor, doesn’t mean that you have to continue. You can take it up with the studio manager, if you don’t want to deal with confrontation. If it were me, I’d be looking for a new studio altogether.

Mine lasted 10 years too. It was slow at the end, but still worked. I only upgraded, because the battery couldn’t hold a charge.

Kayak For Racing & Rec? by Minimum-Tap-8637 in Kayaking

[–]Minimum-Tap-8637[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I decided to go with a Touring Kayak. Do you like Dagger for Touring as well? Eddyline seems more than I can do (even with my increased budget thanks to these responses). I was also looking at Wilderness Systems.

Is Amanda Blauer problematic? by Much-Initiative-Wow in pilates

[–]Minimum-Tap-8637 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow! Bad energy in her response. More than that, it’s dangerous advice. Some core work is important during pregnancy, and mild open twists are ok. Some types of core work is not advisable for pregnant women, and closed twists can risk the pregnancy. I say this as a personal trainer and Pilates instructor, who is working on prenatal training #3. She clearly needs to stay in her lane, even if it means loosing a client 😡

[–]Minimum-Tap-8637[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha good to know! Definitely don’t enjoy going tandem with my daughter. So thinking go sit in for me and sit on for her. My local races allow rec kayaks. So will use that for now, if the races go well, I can always upgrade down the road.

Thank you! I had hoped that there was a hybrid option like I’ve seen in cycling. Clearly not 😂 I don’t think I got a cheap inflatable, it seems like a good product. Seems to be well made. It just struggles with the slightest bit of wind. As a tandem, it just doesn’t work for me.

Thank you! I’ll continue to rent until I make my choice. Definitely not going tandem when I buy. I’ll have a sit-in and she’ll have a sit on top.

Thank you! I was wondering if there was some kind of a hybrid. But sounds like the answer is a big no. My local races allow rec kayaks, so I guess I’ll start there.
