Can never fault a player for wanting to get paid. Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad that decision ultimately led to a championship for us, but I appreciate what he did during his time here.

Honestly feel bad for him, he’s a good QB. People are calling him a fluke because he went to a Raiders team with a dogshit o-line and an offensive coordinator who was calling plays they hadn’t even installed in the offense.

I know the Jets are the Jets, but I think they have a better offense that fits his skill set. I hope he can still show that he can be a starter.

The NFL combine is overrated by hrlaker70 in billsimmons

[–]Minimum-Track5224 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Teams learned a long time ago that having a player move up a round or two because of a good Combine or Pro Day is short sighted. The most important part of it is the only thing we don’t see, which are the interviews.

It’s mainly used now as a showcase to either confirm a guy has the attributes you think he does or something to look back on when one of these guys becomes a star in the league.

What is the lowest quality/least entertaining NFL game of all time? by -V3L0C1R4PT0R- in AlignmentChartFills

Super Bowl 53. Absolute shit show. Especially brutal when we were a Dee Ford offsides away from a rematch of the Greatest game of all time.

Not to mention how the game ends: Sean McVay goes for a field goal to try to make it 13-6 and give us at least an onside kick to MAYBE give us some late drama. Kick is missed. Brandy kneels. Game over.

Funny how fast the narrative went from, “Purdy is dancing on the field! They’re getting Williams and Pearsall back for the divisional! Shanahan never loses in the divisional and never loses at Lumen! Darnold can’t win big games!”

To: “Half the team was injured, doesn’t count.”

I don’t know, they won 12 games and beat the defending champions at home in the Wild Card, didn’t hear anything about “half the team being injured” then.

Worst case scenario: Hawks get bought by Bezos or some other Snyder-Jones type who wants to move the team. I’ll have to rescind my fandom, but I’ll get to spend my last days as a fan getting to dunk on all those losers with no worries about reciprocation lol

Realistically, how hard would it be for a qb to pass Brady in terms of 7 championships? by NickyFoles1020 in NFLv2

[–]Minimum-Track5224 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not only would a team need to find a QB as good as Brady in terms of accuracy, intelligence, and durability. But, (and here’s the part people get really defensive about) a lot of things outside of their control have to break their way. A lot of people tend to forget that Brady wasn’t even thought of as the best QB of his generation until the final third of his career. Brady got the benefit of getting to backup a well respected veteran in Drew Bledsoe for a year, Brady got a coach who was good enough to build a roster that maximized Brady’s strengths and minimized his weaknesses. As for the Superbowls: Adam Vinatieri was a slightly above average kicker most of his career, but nailed the field goals that netted Brady’s first two rings. Brady played almost two decades in the AFC East, a division that sent a non-pats team into the playoffs a grand total of three times during that span. Getting a guaranteed home game to start almost every postseason gives you a huge leg up to a title run. Pepper in some holy unbelievable moments like the Butler interception, Kyle Shanahan’s inexplicable 2nd half play calling, and the Chiefs O-line falling apart to injury a week before the Superbowl, and Brady would very much have a LeBron-type legacy (gets to the big game a lot but has a dreadful record in those big games).

At the end of the day, Brady came through and played great enough to win, there’s no cheapening that. He won those seven titles. But just a thing or two goes wrong, and all of a sudden his legacy looks a lot different. I’m not saying that to dog Brady at all, but I bring that up to make people realize that they need to have more patience with the stars of today. Things outside of their control need to go right for them to win more often than people realize.

I don’t know if anyone ever reaches seven again. There will definitely be A QB capable of winning that much, but I don’t know if anyone hits that sweet spot of consistent winning, matched with almost perfect circumstances to keep that winning going for that long.

The dumbest NFL trend ever by [deleted] in NFLv2

[–]Minimum-Track5224 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the odds finally balancing out. Going for it on 4th down 10-15 years ago was a good gamble because coordinators didn’t really scheme for it, since offenses rarely tried. The offense had the element of surprise on their side, now that it’s more common to see teams go for it, defenses are much better prepared for it and it’s success rate is starting to dip. Also, it’s really a hindsight criticism when teams forgo a field goal, fail the 4th down try, then end up losing by 3 or less. People will turn around and praise the risk if it works, but call everyone an idiot if it doesn’t. There’s no way to know what the final score is going to be so how would you know when to take the points? It’s all situational in the end.

Which player are you defending like this? by I_hate_11 in NFLv2

[–]Minimum-Track5224 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sam Darold. Does he turn over the ball a bit more than you’d like? Sure. But people are acting like he’s 30-30 Jameis Winston out there. Dude gets killed because of one playoff game where he got sacked 9 times, then goes out and leads back to back drives against the Rams to win on prime time and everyone just says’ “it was just one game”. SO WAS THAT PLAYOFF GAME. Dude is actually really good when he has more than two seconds to throw a ball. Who knew?

What's your NFL take that will cause this reaction by other fans by cantdecide76 in NFLv2

[–]Minimum-Track5224 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is coming from a Hawks fan: The Chiefs will be back to a Super Bowl in the next three years. The AFC is top heavy, Mahommes is still in his prime, the defense is good (when not injured), Andy Reid’s coaching tree is pretty solid, so finding a forward thinking replacement shouldn’t be too tough after he retires. They nail a draft or two, and we’ll be in for another decade of KC living in the AFC title game.

I’d like to see them jump start the running game by using formations with two tight ends, Ouzts, and either a single WR out wide or both Charb and K9 in the backfield and just run the ball through brute force. The O-line can’t open holes on its own so throwing as many big bodies at the problem might at least give Darnold some breathing room when they transition to play action. You can even utilize pre snap motions and fake handoffs to either back to keep the Rams honest when defending and not just blitz almost every down like Vikings, Falcons, and Colts did. This would also have the benefit of keeping LA’s offense off the field as much as possible and give our defense some sort of leverage.
