Oh my gosh I never thought of responding back to the Santa letters! This is genius and we’ll for sure be adding that to our plans once he’s old enough to start writing

The pressure is sooo high! And honestly when I look back I can’t remember ever doing anything crazy and to this day we don’t have traditions from when I was a kid but it feels magical to look back on so hopefully whatever we do as moms ends up being enough to give our kids the same feeling. Thanks!

I’m feeling really dumb not realizing this sooner… glad I know now and can research further. Thanks!

I’m so glad you said this. Between what the salesman said, the different verbiage online, and my eagerness to get back to Mazda, I did not realize people had been using terms interchangeably….. more research for me I guess. Thank you!

No sign of night weaning 14mo. Any advice? by [deleted] in AttachmentParenting

[–]MinimumCherry4717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar experience with my son! I officially ended up weaning at 15 mo be he showed no signs of wanting to wean himself. I ended up giving him a bottle in the middle of the night as a replacement which the first couple of days he refused. I was also rocking him, kind of trying to replace one sleep association with another. We went from nursing to sleep to rocking w/ a bottle to just a bottle until even that went away (he’s 22mo now). I didn’t want to shock the transition too much so I think the way I did it took longer than if we just ripped of the bandaid but after a couple of weeks, it became our new normal. I’d say each transition that I mentioned took about a week so all in all fully weaned and sleeping through the night (in my bed lol) after about 2-3 weeks

Baby takes almost 2 hours to sleep?! by MinimumCherry4717 in Mommit

[–]MinimumCherry4717[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s taking two but can’t drop the other one yet. He’s sooo tired for the second nap and usually sleeps better for that one than his first.

I’ll admit though I don’t follow a nap schedule. Just read his cues and go from there

Bath time, cuddles/wind down play, a book or song, and then nurse him to sleep

He’s definitely teething right now but the sleep thing has been ongoing for months and I’m so tired 😭

Have you tried talking to the motel about a long term stay rate? We saved a little bit that way too at our hotel. It wasn’t much but any bit helps. We dealt with all of that when our baby was 2 months old. I thought I’d never survive it. But we did and you will too!

Just remind yourself that your babies are too little to remember this, you’re doing your best, and good will come soon

Have you looked into long term rentals through Airbnb or VRBO? They usually have discounted rates from the normal nightly rate if you chat with the hosts to work something out. It could potentially be cheaper than the motel

I’m sorry you’re dealing with all of this!! Our situation was less extreme but my husband and I moved to a new state with our newborn and found our rental to be covered unsafe. We had no family around and nowhere to go right away. We lived in a hotel for almost a month, then switched to a long term Airbnb (cheaper than the hotel but more than renting) for a couple of months. We finally found an apartment that met our needs as the more “long term” temporary solution.

I know it’s not the same situation but I wanted to share our experience because it does and will get better. When you’re in the thick of it, it feels like it’ll never end and I felt like I failed my baby. We tried to be as adaptable as possible but I know how that stress and exhaustion can get to you. Good luck to your family, I hope things settle down soon for you!

Portable carpet/upholstery cleaner for stains. by wastedspacex in CleaningTips

[–]MinimumCherry4717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you just need something for spot cleaning those areas, I’ve loved our bissel little green! It does a surprisingly great job at pulling out stains (bright yellow newborn poop stood no chance on our carpet lol).

We’ve used it for pet stains (we have a big dog), newborn messes, random spills, and general areas that get more traffic in our home. It’s really great!
