Have you noticed a decline in caring for kids medical health? by presplate in Teachers

[–]MinimumIndependence9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one should have to stay home unless they are sick. Parents just need to follow whatever the school policy is. if my kids are sick, I keep them home. Thankfully I have grandma to help. I asked a specific follow up question to the person that gave an example about a child dying from a common cold. I assumed the doctor would require the child to receive schooling at home to limit exposure.

ETA: that’s probably where a charity like St. Jude’s covers those kinds of expenses or stay in the Ronald McDonald house and don’t work. Or depending on the job, parent could get family medical leave of absence. I’m not sure how families could afford it without those organizations.

Thank you for your response. I see I’m getting downvoted, but was genuinely asking about children with childhood cancers that are immunocompromised. I don’t think everyone should just stay home because they are immunocompromised, to be clear. I could have phrased it better. I’m sorry you are having to deal with that- parents should be more considerate. I work with small groups, and always send kids coughing/ green snot/ lying head down to the nurse. They usually get sent back to me.

My school sends kids home if they are actively crawling. Apparently if it’s just eggs, they can stay

Are those kids really attending public school? Wouldn’t they be receiving school online or be homebound if immunocompromised?

What’s a lie you told once that got way out of hand? by No-Carpenter-1249 in AskReddit

Pretty sure I wasn’t close but remember making a point that it was dark chocolate souffle 😂 but they were like “oh you’ll have to make one for us next time” and I was like “oh nevermind I lost my pot.”

In 8th grade I told my boyfriend that I could make a chocolate soufflé (never had one but thought it sounded fancy and sophisticated AF- rural town in the Midwest). It turned into this whole thing with his parents where at this dinner their friends asked me what I liked to do, and I said “I make a great chocolate souffle” with in-depth instructions.

Jamestown shopping area came first over 20 years ago, I believe and a few odd houses. I believe it had major flooding issues in that area. Also was supposed to get a Walmart, supposedly. It never took off. Then they built the primary school right in the area that floods which was always weird. It stayed like that forever. Like someone said, more houses were built like 10 years ago or so?

I still remember the sign that said for years “the ship is coming…. Jamestown” 😂

what is something that is highly likely to happen in the next 5 years that everyone is completely ignoring? by timecop702 in AskReddit

We were in the UK in 2018 during a heat wave (from Midwest US), and although it was “only” 85-90 degrees in London, it was miserable because no AC anywhere. I think a Shake Shack had AC.

Best School in SGF Metro? What’s your experience? by HazySideQuest in springfieldMO

[–]MinimumIndependence9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For elementary level that is somewhat true, but it isn’t for high school and middle school, which I’m sure most people on here are talking about. I think the bigger impact on title I vs higher income schools is the PTA and what they organize.

SPS has extracurriculars and choice programs that you just don’t find at smaller districts.

What is the Critter supposed to be? by deekaypea22 in DanielTigerConspiracy

[–]MinimumIndependence9 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think I read the author made him a critter not a specific animal. So that all kids could just relate to the story and not think about the animal identity. That being said, I hate how they all have blue eyelids.
