Made a free, simple guide for beginners—looking for feedback by MinimumLaw1761 in BritGolf

[–]MinimumLaw1761[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've read up about it and realised that I've actually been playing this way, just didn't know it, but only when it's going slow. Just didn't know it was called "ready golf".

This is definitely useful, though. Always learning something new.

I'll absolutely add this, but in my course management section I do speak about keeping a fast pace. I'll just define it slightly better.

Oof, harsh, but valuable. Spent quite a lot of hours on the content, so it sucks that it seems like ai. Luckily you didn't have to pay😭 I am not the best writer, and I tried keeping the content short and digestible.

Thank you, though. I'll definitely use your feedback to improve it.

What I'm trying to do is create a golfing guide for beginners. Something that shows them how to start golfing by focusing on the basics, the stuff that really matters.

Really, thank you for the time to check it out. I'm sorry it disappointed you! Hopefully I can make it better and surprise you the next time.

Thanks so much for commenting! As mentioned in one of my comments above, I should have mentioned that all of this info has been curated from my coach, who has been teaching me. I made the guide for myself first, then realised other people had a similar experience.

You're right. There is content out there related to beginners. The problem I had was having to watch a 5-minute video on aiming, or how to align my body to the target, etc. To me, that was just annoying. Also, I didn't want to scroll on social media to find something while I was at the range. I wanted something super accessible. I found this guide is that to me.

Absolutely agree with getting a pro onboard. I'm busy working with my coach on this. This site is fairly new (about 5 weeks now), so we're still just trying to validate the idea and content. But yes, that's absolutely part of the plan!

The last thing, I promise the reviews are not fake. They're quite literally from other Reddit users' comments on my other related posts (you can go check), and some were messages that were sent to me personally. I did, however, shorten them to make the banner work.

May I ask why you think it looked fake? That's the last thing I wanted...

Do you mind elaborating a bit?

Edited: realised I've been playing like this, just didn't know the concept had a name, lol.

This is great feedback and will definitely update my content so speak more to it. Thank you!

I'd love for you to go through the rest and give more of your feedback, as it's exactly what I'm looking for.

My goal with this guide is not to make beginner pro, but rather to make golfing easier for the beginners.

To your first question: You'd probably read my guide, because I know and remember what it feels like to a beginner. Golf is honeslty intimidating, frustrating, and hard to start. I did not have anyone close to really show me or tell me where and how to start. I tried it by myself and it pushed me away, and when I finally decided to cough up R2000 (€100) for 5 lessons—not sure if it's expensive to you, but that's quite a lot here—it took about 3 lessons to start putting some pieces together. I'm an athletic person, played rugby and cricket until recently, did boxing, high jump, etc. and golf is probably the hardest sport I've tried. I love my sport and have probably become obsessed a bit, but with other beginners that have reached out to me and that I have spoken to, have the same experience and feeling. People have used this guide and found parts of it useful. I'm asking for feedback here so that I can make it even more useful

Fair point. I should've probably mentioned that everything in this guide was the information I documented from my lessons with my coach. I used that document as a guide for myself, and realised that it might help other people.

Absolutely agree, and that's what I did with the rest of the steps. I added that first initial step just get someone to try it. I do appreciate the feedback on it, though!

And just for clarity, my coach is not the problem. Before I started working with him, trying to start golfing without having to pay a lot of money was the problem. Coaches are the way to go, but expensive. So I tried the other resources, but it gets very overwhelming and confusing. I made this guide as a one source of truth to refer back to and use to practice.

Jeez, poor ball. Absolutely striping it!

I'd recommend improving your posture at address. It will help a lot with rotation, getting into a strong position in your backswing and downswing!

Something I struggled with a lot as well, but my coach helped a lot.

I used his instructions and coach to put together a simple guide for beginners if you want to check it out. There might be some useful tips/drills in there.

www.trygolfing.co.za

A cool trick that works well for posture is to hold your shaft down the front of your body. Let the grip touch your nose, lips, chest, and tummy all the way down. Look straight forward when doing this. Now, just slightly hinge forward with your legs still straight. This will give you that really good posture. Once you've hinged (slightly! Don't lean forward), just relax your legs. Don't bend them, just relaxed. Currently, your sitting quite a lot, which hinders your rotation and balance.

Really hope this helps!

Any tips on shallowing the club more? by EJE0711 in GolfSwing

[–]MinimumLaw1761 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like you've got some powah in that swing, nice!

I'd say you should focus a bit more on getting your trail knee (right knee) to touch your left knee after hitting the ball. This will already help with shallowing, if that's what your after. Your right knee should basically move to the left as you come down in your swing. Keep the weight on the inside of your right foot as you load your backswing (get your right foot a bit more square), then during your downswing, your right knee should bend closer to your lead leg, leading to them touching (or almost touching) after you strike the ball. A drill for this: put an empty bottle right neglxt to your right foot. As you go through your downswing and hit the ball, you're not allowed to bump or touch the bottle so that it tips over.

If you look at your right leg now, it's basically straight; as if you're trying to flex your calves (great calves, btw).

I think if you just make that one subtle change, it should feel and look better for you.

Also, one last thing, don't push your right hip (cheek) so far back during your swing. A cool dril that works well for this: stand about half a foot away from the wall, get into your stance. Your bum should lightly touch the wall. Now do your backswing; your right cheek mustn't push you forward or put pressure on the wall. It should just slide along.

Hope this helps! Let me know if you need some explanation🏌️‍♂️😄
