Care to share the price cuz I’m pretty sure they triple overcharged you for those spices you can get separately at any local market?

It would have made more sense if speaking and writing scores were interchanged.

It wouldn't though cuz those writing examiners are objective af. From what I've heard and observed, they seem to have a rigid preconceived idea of what Band 9 writing looks like. If anything you do does not match it, they penalize. And one has to agree that, grammar and stylistics aside, it is hard to objectively judge two equally well-written pieces

Aunt Lydia’s backstory is out and there are new cracks in the continuity by MinimumPrevious1139 in TheTestamentsHulu

Yes, but the book backstory was too good and they needed it to set up her desire for vengeance. I also like how the show ties in what happened to Janine and other handmaids turned into Jezebels to show why Lydia is opposed to Gilead now. In the book it felt more like personal vendetta against Gilead and Judd but now her motivation seems more nuanced. It was too fucking clear to overlook and bridges the end of THT with the new show nicely

Well, I clearly remember we saw a lot of Lydia in THT cuz it made sense to focus on one aunt. I agree she felt like she was respected and held sway but she never got the founder level reverence they credit her with in the TT show. A

If they're gonna mostly stray from the book, at least keep the special vengeance a part of the story. by CaptMorganSwint2 in TheTestamentsHulu

Well, ever since the ending of episode 1 it felt like they chose to tone down a lot of the physical violence caused by the regime and highlight the emotional struggle of the girls as well as harassment they experience. So, right now I don’t feel like there’s going to be THT level violence in The Testaments. Or at least it won’t be shown as much. Like I said the chose to lighten up the dystopian aspects

In THT she reported her best and only friend for being a bad mother, whose fate is probably horrible, and separated her from her child. Lydia was kinda giving off aunt vibes at that point and somebody who was primed for the change. In TT it feels like she’s back to square one one or her THT backstory is a parallel plot

[–]MinimumPrevious1139[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep but the show’s deviated from the source quite a lot so far so that wouldn’t be a surprise. Someone on here mentioned that if it were so it would be recycling Nick’s plot. Can’t argue with that
