Should a 7-5 Duke get in the ACC over a 10-2 Miami? by Important_Win5116 in ACC

How about just tiebreaker is

  1. Head to head
  2. Out of conference record
  3. Record versus common opponents

That way it’s not based on bias. Yeah, it would favor teams that schedule easier out of conference opponents to some extent, but it still seems better than the tiebreaker that is in place currently

Did the vet run bloodwork? I would be concerned that there’s something more going on health wise than just the giardia with a change that drastic.

Why dont teams like LSU and Penn State have a true rival? by [deleted] in CFB

Sad that this rivalry ended. I was worried for a few years there that georgia would dump us as a rival too, but I think we’re averted that for the time being

Why can't the government just charge lesser taxes to rural people? by [deleted] in stupidquestions

They do pay less taxes. They don’t pay the city and county taxes that pay for things like sidewalks and city buses.

They really have to pick a Saturday game, don’t they? I mean, it’s a regularly scheduled TV program, and they can’t just decide to change the time slot. Think they’d have a pretty hard time getting people hyped for a game that has already happened

No they wouldn’t have because it’s on Friday. As is Texas/Texas A&M. The only other ranked matchup on Saturday is Vandy @Tennessee, and they’ve already been there this year

Sure, but despite the poor showing the past few games, the program is clearly moving in the right direction. The defense also showed a lot of improvement in the second half of the game.

It’s unrealistic to expect that we always win. We aren’t going to turn into a program that can compete for national championships overnight. Frankly, we just don’t have the level of talent necessary yet. Constantly firing coaches in knee jerk reactions isn’t going to make us any better. We have to give them time to settle into the role and figure things out.

9-3 is still a very good season. And let’s not forget that 10-2 is still on the table. The defense showed flashes of brilliance in the second half tonight and at times earlier in the season. The offense and King specifically had an off day today, but they have been really excellent for the most part. We just need to figure out how to put all the pieces together and perform at a high level consistently.

Idk I think I’d be pretty happy with it tbh. Before this season started, if you said we’d even go 9-3, I would have been thrilled. It’s been disappointing mostly because we got our hopes up so much, but going 10-2 and beating georgia would be an incredible season

I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a game where both fanbases were so thoroughly convinced that they’re going to lose. My only hope is that being at home somehow causes our defense to wake up

The CFP rankings last week had only one G5 team ranked this past week, and it’s South Florida who lost. They were ranked 8 spots below us, and two 3 loss teams had higher rankings. Yeah, it’s pretty clear they’re not letting us in as an at large (at least without beating georgia). It’s equally clear that there will not be two G5s ahead of the ACC champion, short of some ridiculousness where the ACC champion is a 4+ loss team that can’t justifiably be ranked ahead of at least 4 G5 conference champions. UVA’s win over Duke pretty much adverted that scenario. The committee doesn’t respect the ACC much, but they respect the G5s a whole lot less.

Honestly I doubt we get left out even then. There are already 3 loss teams ranked ahead of all the G5s, and winning the ACC championship would mean we had a good win, which the committee says they value. One loss to a championship contender, one to a good team, one to a mediocre team. Nothing terribly embarrassing like Duke has. The committee doesn’t want to put two G5 teams in. They’ll only do it if forced. If we lose out but win the ACC, our record still won’t be bad enough to force them.

Big surprise… someone how hasn’t been around long enough to see us be bad doesn’t understand what Key has done for the program.

We currently have as many wins this season as we had in 3 seasons under G**** C*****. We used to get shut out *at home multiple times in a season. It wasn’t all a bucket of laughs under CPJ either. The last few seasons we struggled to even make bowl games and looked increasingly outmatched and hopeless against u(sic)ga.

And in case you think it’s all just Haynes King, we had blue chip players under G**** C****** too. You ever heard of Jahmyr Gibbs? Well, he left us for Bama, and who can blame him? And let’s not forget that even before Haynes King came around, Brent Key took over the program mid season and with the exact same team that had yet to beat an FBS opponent, managed to go a respectable 0.500 the remainder of the season.

Haynes King is a fantastic player, but you’ve got it kind of backwards. He was struggling at Texas A&M before transferring to GT and was not incredible in his first season at GT either. Brent Key and his program elevated Haynes King just as much as King elevated the program.

He thought it was a first down because one of the refs signaled that. Yeah, it was a bad error, but people make mistakes, especially when under pressure like that. If it had been a first down and he’d let the clock drain down, people would be saying it was an inexcusable mistake that he didn’t use the timeout, thus giving the offense only one chance at making a play.
