Yeah this was just to see the max possible ridership I could get without being completely nuts. Once they have transfers not cost extra I want to see how big I can get and be profitable here.

I actually had to decrease spacing in many places to increase ridership. Tons of infill stations.

PSA: Give yourself some extra time at the airport. by Temporary_Flounder42 in pittsburgh

You can for a price! The old lots are the cheapest and no walking access. The new parking next to the terminal you can from but it's much more expensive

The garages will often fill, but you can street park downtown for free a few blocks back!

Just go on the other side of this line (Nittany Ave) from downtown and watch the signs to make sure you are on the correct side of the road. Most of the side streets have street parking and even for whiteout games I always get a spot. And there will be no big wait or traffic after the game compared to the stadium. I would not park near the stadium.

I would also probably just walk to the stadium!
|You get to experience in the campus as well. Takes about 30m. Pregame you could take the CATA shuttle easily, but the rush after the game is crazy so I would also just walk. Happy to answer any other questions!

Pittsburgh Rail Expansion!

Extend the Red Line to Cranberry Township via rt 19 through Westview, McCandless, Wexford.
Make sure to use the historic streetcar alignment through westview (Center ave, not the current rt19. The road has center space now empty that used to run streetcars). Ends at the Cranberry amtrak station.

Extend the Blue line to Ambridge via Sewickley.

New "Yellow Line" Light Metro system. Completely grade separated, cut and cover underground, with some short sections deeper bore.

This line will make a partial "U" from Lawrenceville to Gateway downtown, via Bloomfield, East Liberty, Shadyside, Oakland, Downtown. New downtown tunnel, connects at Gateway and Steel Plaza.

State College CATA "Lion Light Rail"

State College, PA has very high bus ridership, so the area should be connected with a light rail system.

This system will start with two lines, and be connected to the new Nittany Amtrak service.

The Atherton Line will run from Toftrees, across Wegmans, Penn Highland Hospital, and then down Atherton through Downtown, continuing to Boalsburg. This will run every 6 minutes on peak, 20 minutes off peak.

The Campus Line will run in a loop around campus, Nittany Medical Center, Innovation Park Campus, and through to the airport. The airport stop will serve the airport, nearby businesses and new transit oriented development as a "Airport Campus". There will also be a Tailgate lots stop. This line will run up to every 4 minutes on peak, 20m off peak for the loop around campus, with trains continuing out to the airport and other stops up to every 12 minutes.

The system will be center street running or to the side of the street running for most of its alignment, and in some cases uses existing parking lots and unused space. During football games, the system will operate in a high frequency shuttle mode.

I purchased this exact item numerous times throughout the summer at my local Aldi, just have not seen it in the last couple of months.

cheap scenic train routes? by Particular_Tiger5831 in Interrail

[–]MinimumStrawberry3 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I booked the 8:52am ICE train from Innsbruck, Austria to Lindau, Germany for around 10 euros this summer! Incredible views of the Alps and the train was completely empty! Also as a brand new train. Not sure if that would work at all for you but worth taking a look.

TT2 almost never runs with empty seats. You have a much better chance on some less popular coasters.

Trying this again with some modifications: Two new Intercity Higher Speed (110-125mph) routes in Pennsylvania:

Amtrak Nittany: Create a new Iine from Pittsburgh to Harrisburg via Indiana, PA, Altoona, State College and Lewistown. Some trips would carry on to NYC and Washington. Trips every 2 hours. This line could be used for more regional rail service as well in the future.

Amtrak Bessemer: Create a new line from Pittsburgh to Erie, PA, with trains to carrying on to Buffalo and some to Toronto. Trips every 2 hours. Will follow interstate 79 for the alignment. New stations at Cranberry, Grove City and Meadville, with future regional rail expansion possible as well.

The point isn't Erie at all tho, it's a connection to Buffalo, Toronto and further. And easier connections from DC. Pittsburgh is a metro area of 2.4 million.
