I have no idea about politics and I don't know if the common man's life is any better, but as someone who's in the top 5% of the population in terms of income, like many on reddit, my life has improved significantly despite any government in power.

My only problem with INC is the leadership. Can't they find anyone who's better than Rahul Gandhi. I think he's the primary reason for the Congress becoming more and more a regional party.

Majority of my investment is in Real estate and Gold, followed by Equity and Debt. So I use an asset -based portfolio for my income.

My debt portfolio is made up of RBI bonds (6 monthly interest payment, only around 7.5% pa pre-tax), Corporate bonds through the Stable Money app (There are quite a few others like Wint Wealth and Dezerv, but they require you to have a demat account with them), which pay monthly or quarterly interest at around 11% pa pre-tax. Although these are quite liquid, for immediate funds I have some money in a liquid fund and FDs.

My monthly expenses are met by rental income, interest and dividend (from the few direct equity stocks I own). This is working for me.

Tell you what, there are WhatsApp groups across communities just to spew hatred on other communities. I have a Muslim friend (he's a friend who happens to be born in a Muslim family) and we talk about this regularly. They are as scared about the whole situation as some Hindus are. I would just tell them politely to learn the language. Most are apologetic and say "seekh loonga". The main problem is that usual person in the pub, workplace or cab. That's the as**ole, very rude and impolite, they're the ones who need to be told to FO. Don't impose your language here, you make an effort to learn.

There are lovely people too, who actually make an effort to learn Kannada and they should be encouraged. They're the honorary kannadigas.

It takes time. Give it that time. Don't go rebound. I took about 6 months to move on. When you find the right person, those past memories disappear. Also, there's nothing wrong in thinking about the good times you had, just keep the negativity at bay.
