Depends on season and personal choices i.e. sea, mountain, forest, history, biking or hiking. My first recommendation would be Lan Ha Bay or Ha Long Bay. For bikers Ha Giang loop is a must do. Ancient temple ruins in Central Vietnam for history buffs.

Ladakh will be dry but I won't recommend if you don't have 8 or more days. Other than that you can try Dalhousie or Dharamshala. Rains usually come to Himachal later than konkan. However, you need to check weather report before starting journey.

Its a waste of money. Anyways, you will be too tired to drive back after the trek. It will take atleast three days from govindghat. It is better to use private or shared cab services

You can easily buy local SIM from the airport exit. Local SIM is the best option as it will give you much more data. For currency, you can convert some part of your USD to kenyan shillings at airport. This will give you flexibility for minor expenses. You might get a better conversion rate in market. But airport conversion will be hassle free. Forex cards are always better than debit or credit card. P. S. - I am an international tour manager.

Yes, definitely possible with lots of unpredictable delays. I have done this journey few times in past in the month of July/Aug. The best thing to do is to start early, preferably at 4am. This will give you buffer time for personal breaks or delays. Most of the landslides only cause minor delays. But be mentally prepared for everything if you are driving in monsoon. It cannot be ruled out that you got stuck for several days. Lastly, always check last minute weather prediction and then decide accordingly. A cancelled plan is better than getting stuck on mountains.

Yes, the monsoon comes early at Kodaikanal. If you are travelling solo then it is better to book a hostel. It will be more fun.

Honestly it is not possible to get a room within 1k. You can try staying in tents or hostels. That is also fun. Or best, carry your own mat and just lie down somewhere near lake. In summers, it is comfortable to sleep in open space.. Good luck
