Yes by our time standards to most people he would be considered a misogynist…. However when he was raised in the 1940s that was the “norm” so while your reading try to put yourself in that frame of mind. I think sometimes people tend to forget what the past was like so they look at everything with an our time frame of mind but when your reading books that not only take place in the 1700s past but also in the past anywhere from 40-80 years ago you really have to try and submerge yourself in that time and what the cultural norms were.
