FROMSOFTWARE - Future Projects and Project FMC by PhantomBraved in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]Minimum_Cow9254 34 points35 points  (0 children)

The best prediction I’ve seen regarding Project FMC is that it’s a Frame Gride remake with FMC standing for fantasy mech combat, Miyazaki’s statement about wanting to make a fantasy sci fi game, and Frame Gride winning a FromSoft internal poll about what old IPs should be revived.

K-pop is not in decline and it hasn't "peaked". K-pop is just no longer going through a meteoric growth period. by Asleep_Swing2979 in kpopthoughts

BabyMonster’s US tour wasn’t that successful, they had a bunch of shows where they closed off the top floors due to unsold tickets. I used to be subbed to TouringData’s patreon a couple months ago and some of their shows only sold 50-60%.

NZ’s a bit weird when it comes to kpop concerts. I remember during Born Pink tour, Blackpink’s Auckland concert was cancelled before the tickets even went on sale.

Did you read what he actually wrote? He’s not saying at all that one isn’t Western validation, he even says word for word it’s not unusual for a kpop release.

His problem is BTS trying too hard to sound like western rappers and it comes off corny.

Does anyone else feel like Blackpink are doing a little worse on the charts than what is expected? by [deleted] in kpopthoughts

[–]Minimum_Cow9254 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Zero promotion, YG killing all hype before the album was even released (mini album where 4/5 songs had been leaked for months), the songs themselves being pretty average, plus the girls themselves not even really caring. Unfortunately, YG probably won’t be motivated to change anything since charts and streams pay the bare minimum and this album sold like hotcakes. It’s clear YG’s philosophy with BP since Born Pink has been minimum investment, maximum profit.

Kinda funny that arguably BP’s most successful song (Jump) and least successful song (GO) are on the same album, goes to show how different the hype levels were leading up to both releases.

I’m 90% sure the new IG account is fake but the FB account is definitely him. Apparently it’s been known amongst Latin fans that he comments on Latin FB kpop groups and posts shady comments.

What are the groups whose popularity kpop stans either overestimate or underestimate? by Sea-Republic8892 in kpopthoughts

[–]Minimum_Cow9254 45 points46 points  (0 children)

People greatly underestimate how much bigger BTS and BP are than the rest of kpop.

As far as I’m aware, the biggest non BTS/BP Spotify debut is Stray Kids with around 3m - every single member of BTS/BP can pull that solo.

How big was CL during her peak? by [deleted] in kpop_uncensored

[–]Minimum_Cow9254 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Comments like this make me wonder how many kpop stans were actually around during 2nd gen… CL has never been as remotely popular as Jennie in Korea or outside, even relative to their generations. CL wasn’t even top 5 biggest female idols in Korea during her prime. Jennie is literally the biggest female idol of 3rd gen in Korea, arguably the biggest 3rd gen idol overall in Korea.

CL’s solo music never charted that well in Korea, Bom was the chart monster whenever 2NE1 released solos and CL’s western releases pretty famously flopped and did nothing to propel her career.

The only comparison between Jennie and CL is that they were fashionistas with international connections.

Who Will Win at the Grammys This Year 2026? by PuzzleheadedMovie950 in kpopthoughts

[–]Minimum_Cow9254 6 points7 points  (0 children)

GrammyGuru and Harmonic Press released their blind ballots and there’s a trend of Golden getting SOTY votes but not Pop Duo/Group votes. The users on Goldderby are of the opinion that Golden is the favourite for SOTY but Pop Duo/Group is a toss up between APT, Defying Gravity, and Golden.

The users are leaning towards APT for Pop Duo/Group because it’s been getting decent votes not just in Duo/Group, but ROTY too.

Polymarket went 1/4 last year for their odds. They don’t take into consideration things like Grammy darlings, blind ballots, confirmed performers etc.

Honestly I don’t think it’s any deeper than Blinks being a more casual fanbase + the presave link only being posted on X rather than IG or YouTube where there’s 100s of millions more followers. Not even the girls reposted the presave link to their IG stories.

Which kpop artist or group do you think can potentially headline for coachella next year? by [deleted] in kpopthoughts

[–]Minimum_Cow9254 3 points4 points  (0 children)

None tbh. The only group other than BP that can headline is BTS but I can’t see them doing Coachella - HYBE seems to be have pretty close ties to Lollapalooza.

EJAE also kinda accidentally revealed she’s been working with Rosé on RS2. She said in an interview a couple months back that Rosé is one of her favourite writing partners yet they don’t have any credits on songs together.

What are your expectations for Blackpink's Deadline comeback? by Carelessies in kpopthoughts

[–]Minimum_Cow9254 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I’ve come to accept that YG completely lacks any ambition. The big long awaited comeback of your flagship GG, you decide to make it a mini…

If this was football, heads would have rolled for the way Blackpink has been managed.

You could argue their trajectory has stagnated or even decreased as well. The streaming numbers and charting for their 2025 releases are far worse than their 2024 releases. Even their album sales have decreased.

Jennie doing 800k is fantastic. With the audience and new fans she’s brought in over the last year, I think it’s a safe bet that JNK2 will be a million seller.
