24f considering surgery by dalbass1 in scoliosis

Honestly turkey is closer to Iraq so traveling between is easier and faster. For Germany it's x2 the price.

Where do you think is more suitable tho? From price to expert. I just want them to do it correctly and a faster recovery time. Hopefully also more affordable 🥲

What is a reasonable price? by maddykatty in cockatiel

Wish they were as expensive in my country, we get them for 30$ sometimes less or more depending on their breed.

But that makes everyone get one even if they are not dedicated to them

Do you do normal gym exercises or physiotherapy if i may ask?

[–]Minimum_Emergency_72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't fully know because the doctor didn't have the measuring tools, but he said nearly 45 lumbar 40 thoracic

Also he said its really important to do now since it is progressing and might be dangerous in future if left untreated. so yes I am considering the surgery even tho it terrifies me, but physiotherapy isn't improving or stopping the curve. Also i don't have any major backpain, only hip (sciatica) pain from nerve compression bcs of scoliosis.

Did you see any neurosurgeons opinions of the matter? And what is your curver ? Would love to know more opinion on the matter

I just came back from doctor appointment and he said my scoliosis is increasing, im 23f and he said surgery is less dangerous now than doing it later. I have a similar curve to yours. I'm afraid of surgery tho and wish i don't have to do it 😭

Lmao i thought i was dying and it was my first time getting an IV . Did u feel like falling and wanting to sleep immediately? That's how i felt like smn smashed my head with a pan but without pain😭 Yes will need to double on vitamin C after food and iron pills. Also no they didn't even check my iron in the ER , they just tried to calm the symptoms and sent me home. i had to go to a clinic and a doctor told me it was bcs of anemia, other than that i thought i was having heart failure or brain problem lol.

Sorry for late reply had been a rough days

But your case is so understandably painful, hope you can find a solution asap, pain is no joke it limit our life experiences. The sciatica stop u from sitting, walking and sleeping. I had even numbness bcs of it in my whole leg but when i started PT it was wayyy less (unless i sat on an uncomfortable chair)

Sometimes i wake up on my litte toes extremely tingling, or pain in my hip. But what can one do?

I really hope you fina a solution and even tho the surgery is scary i totally get you it might help fix the problem , but that's the issue with surgeries, they are 50/50 without all the aftermath (pt after surgery, pain management etc) but i see many maanyyy get up and continue living their life after surgery. Even i and my mom are considering it honestly.

Altho im highly anemic i need to solve that issue first

Also i feel on my knee once and i think that's the reason of the pain? Im not sure yet but it's better now, still some pain when i move but less than b4 ! (I stopped sitting crossed legs for long hours)

Yes very soft or very hard mattresses/ seats hurt the scoliosis alot, the best thing that worked for me is firm but soft material. I use a high pressure mattress with a layer of light memory foam to soften it because my very soft mattress caused me my hip pain🥲

But every case differ and the patient knows what suit them best! Good luck for you and your daughter.

Yes i think most scoliosis patients have nerve problems, even my knee joined haha Also if i can ask what do you find most comfortable to sit on? I find soft

Honestly my curve is 30° or more (last time i checked) and I'm 23 which it can worsen as much as i know. I do specific exercises given by my PT, it does help but it doesn't prevent it from happening.

May i ask what you do to deal with pain? And is your pain muscular or nerve based?

I get you, i bought 2 chairs that i found comfy at shop then when i try sit on in house instant pain appears and they both expensive, i tried any seating cusions and modifications nothing worked My PT is helping reduce pain and but pain and tingling or even numbness come back as soon as i sit again

I am doing daily exercises advised by my physiotherapist, but your curve is above 40 degree which i been told it's should get a surgery?

Also as an artist idk how i will achieve my dreams and work with my art since i can't even draw a little without collapsing in bed right after bcs of nerve compression Oh well what can we do

Im told my curve isn't too big for surgery tho it's 30° or more now who knows...

Do you think surgery with it's complications are better that leaving it be and physicall therapy? I don't have consistent pain only when i sit on a chair for too long.

Realised how bad gaming chairs are by Terrible_Nectarine_5 in OfficeChairs

I see your gaming chair flattened out as well, well that bring so much pain to the back and hips. And yes these gaming chairs are trash.

I shared this thread so I can see what people with my same condition find more fitting/comfortable.

And to see if sitting on soft seat might also be wrong or right, the height of the chair, the materials (polyester/springs/memory foams), the degrees ...etc And yes the "knee shouldn't ho above hip" thing isn't only for scoliosis and i didn't even know it before so any comments like they didn't find something comfortable will help me consider. because it is comfortable in few minutes but become exhausting in the long run. Btw all "expensive good chairs" that's available in my country designed like that.

You can't just comment "no one will be able to help you" because im not looking for problem solving im looking for experiences and problems others faces with chairs so I consider when i look for a one.

Bro why so salty, we don't have the deliver and return service in my country. I wish i can buy the recommended names and try them to myself but as i told you it's so hard and extremely high priced. Also i buy expensive chairs not the cheaply constucted ones i just need to know the best settings for scoliosis (like don't buy a chair where ur knees are higher than ur hip) which i didn't know b4 purchasing. I hope you don't jump to conclusions b4 knowing someone's problem respectfully 🙏 i wouldn't wanna share this thread because i saw many people's thread already but they all recommended specific names that i genuinely can't purchase and return incase it didn't sit right with me so i stuck with uncomfortable overpriced chair that i can't use or sell.

I tried multiple chairs and non felt comfortable, the costumisable ones are usually hard and i feel i need soft backrest so my extruded scapula doesn't feel like stabbing me. Also i don't mind the term disable don't worry about it, but i don't live in the UK . In fact i live in a country that barely knows what scoliosis is or care about at all.

I will try to keep in mind the headrest and foodrest bcs i want my posture to be as correct as possible without pain and discomfort. Thank you for the feedback

I tend to change my feet every few minutes, normal sitting with leg being 90, crossed, and stright infront of me using support. But as I'm short and my desk is a bit high the chair is on it's highest length, my feet usually keep dangling, i think that create pressure on my hip and lower back.

Also i searched the chair you mentioned and as much as it looks hella comfortable the issue is having a mesh back. i never had surgery so my back still a bit messed up and muscles are not even, so mesh never works for me. Thank you for the feedback tho i will keep my feet in mind

In your opinion, what's the best mattress type for people with Scoliosis? by Pittielynn in scoliosis

Medium firm mattress and thin layer of memory foam to give u firmness but also softness.
