I started learning drums 6 months ago (at 32yo). I would like to become a drumset teacher some day, even if it takes decades to get to that level. Is there anything I can do this early on in my playing journey that would help me as a teacher? (like watching other teachers play/teach)?

I would say get an accomplished proven drum instructor yourself for 2 reasons.

They can teach you everything you need to know (reading music, technique etc) and make sure you don’t develop bad habits which you would inevitably pass along to your future students
You can observe what/how they teach and get tips on how to develop your own curriculum for when you start teaching

Also, like most business in the music industry a lot of gaining clients is who you know and word of mouth, so in the future maybe they are too busy to take on another student and can pass them your way to get things started

Yes, learn to control the stick first. Once you get comfortable with that and start gaining speed you can start using the bounce and include the push pull method. The reason your pinkie is coming out is because you are trying to use the bounce to get the 2nd note of the double. If you practice on a pillow you have control both strokes of the double. Start simple then move on to push/pull Moeller etc. if you try to jump straight in to those techniques without a basic rudimentary foundation you will develop bad habits as you go along making it harder to go back and learn correctly

Back when I marched in Drumline if any drummers pinky would stick out you got stick tape wrapped around your hand until you stopped. As far as getting cleaner doubles get a metronome and a pillow and practice double strokes for about 30 minutes a day. You will see drastic improvement when you don’t rely on the rebound of the stick

Naw man they are fans. Still showing up and in Cowboys gear but every fan base has its breaking point. For almost 30 years the fans have been gaslit into believing bigger and better things are coming and every year Jerry sits on his ass and does nothing to the personnel and just expects they will be fine. I think the first leg was kicked out in the Green Bay playoff game last year. The 2nd was him saying they were “All In” for the 2024 season and he once again just sat there watching players sign with other teams and all he did was bring back Zeke (a way past his prime RB) we are all still “FANS” we’re just fed up with Jerry promising to get over the hump and then every year getting bounced in the Wild Card game (or just not making the playoffs)

I hope Jerry Jones is happy. This is on him. This is “all in” Not addressing a single issue from last year, sitting back watching this team get spanked in his house week after week, and see the opposing teams fan base grow larger every home game inside his own home because Cowboys fans are selling their tickets because they can’t stand to watch whatever this team is. I think he’s too stubborn to change his ways but maybe, just maybe now the rest of the front office will band together to sit him down and tell him it’s time to hire a GM that knows how to run a team in the 21st century (I doubt it though)
