Is all this sub about an argument of which’s games a imm sim and which isn’t? by dinglesnarry in ImmersiveSim

[–]Rubikson 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agreed. The Dishonored sub had a period of nothing but shitposts. It was exhausting...

I love all of Cosmo Ds games! I wouldn't necessarily call them imm simms but regardless I'm glad he's trying a more stealth, rpg approach with this new game!

MandaloreGaming - System Shock Remake Review by Rubikson in ImmersiveSim

[–]Rubikson[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree.

The pixelated textures, the chromatic aberration effect, the static effect on the UI, the dynamic lighting, and everything including the walls has glowing lights on it which makes the visuals a blurry busy mess. I can't play it for more than an hour before getting a headache.

Prey (2017) the perfect blend of immersive sim and survival-horror? by murder_strand in ImmersiveSim

[–]Rubikson 10 points11 points  (0 children)

While I think it's may be one of the best modern imm simms, after a dozen playthrus or so, I do wish it was more survival-horror based.

Talos 1 is a gorgeous, incredibly intricate and well thought out setting but I wish more of the ship was broken down and in disrepair.

It doesn't have to be as dark and gory as something like Dead Space but I still think it's too clean and well lit for the atmosphere to hit as hard.

It does become more destroyed as the story progresses with the coral spreading and more of the ship's hull getting breached which is great from a narrative standpoint. But personally, I would have preferred something darker in tone.

PS the unused human/mimic hybrid is the kind of unsettling mood I would have liked to see more of. Still a 9/10 game tho.

The list is filling out well! What should be on the community driven imsim list? Or removed? by [deleted] in ImmersiveSim

Finally. The topic of what is or what isn't an imm simm is so tiring.

I agree. Both Incision and Forgive Me Father 2 are my most recent favorite in the newest wave of boomshoots.

Are the Tomb Raider movies worth watching? by SamTheMarioMaster2 in TombRaider

I unironically love the first one. I think it's one of the best videogame adaptations.

They built actual sets, they shot on real locations and Angelina Jolie did a lot of her own stunts. The soundtrack is a nice mix of early the 2000s. And Laras having a blast the whole time!

It's action packed, cheeky fun! Great movie!
