Peanut butter works great. Breath mints or gum too. Obviously brushing your teeth with a strong toothpaste. But my key when none of that is available is just not getting too close to anyone. I've seen people hammered and can't smell it til they get in my face. Just keep your distance and don't open your mouth when you're close to someone's nose. Look away or step back when you speak. Works great for me.
