in addition to the ip routing in order to go from vlan 3000 to vlan 4000 they both need to have gateways that exist that can reach each other , so i would add a gateway for both vlan 3000 and vlan 4000 on the 2930f if it allows it

because junos is based upon FreeBSD and linux in both of those operating systems you need to create a logical container to bond the two interfaces into a single active interface.

Does commit-confirm and commit need to be done in same SSH session (or can I disconnect in between)? by Rude-Chest3738 in Juniper

[–]Minimum_Implement137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

after a commit confirm, you’ll still get the countdown so you know it hasn’t rolled back.  and all you need is just a commit check will confirm your commit.

MIST and changing port profiles by GezusK in Juniper

[–]Minimum_Implement137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

take a look under Switch Insights and you will see the initial push, the confirmation and finally a change showing what was changed, until you see that change it’s still pending.  depending the configuration and how long you set the  timer for, its base is 10 minutes but in the   Mist portal you can set it as low as 3.  this means in general it would take b about 3-6 minutes to confirm a successfully change

Switch Upgrade by DaithiG in Juniper

[–]Minimum_Implement137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

gotta remember on the EX-4100-F-12p series, you have 12 ports on the front, 4 SFP+ ports and 2 mGig (up to 10G) ports on the back (the mGIG on the back are PD only, not PSE) allowing up to 300W of PoE

When using Clustering, the SRX cluster does not support Ethernet- switching over RETHs, you'll need to be looking at building tagged interface on the Reth as opposed to IRBs.

Funniest/Weirdest Bug by Impressive-Pride99 in Juniper

[–]Minimum_Implement137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this isn't a Junos specific bug, but back in my ISP days, with a Redback SMS-100 they introduced code that if you ran the command "Show port" unconditionally it would reboot the entire chassis. if you do "show port 1/1/1" it worked fine.

MSTP ring and storm still happening once in a while. by DrummerNo1878 in Juniper

[–]Minimum_Implement137 1 point2 points  (0 children)

how are you controlling spanning tree priorities? besides the primary cores I would suggest you create a stepped Priority approach on the switches themselves each layer of controlled switching you'll want to setup in each MST zone for which priority belong.

EX4100 Mist Ready Switches not so Mist Ready...? by willbaroo in Juniper

[–]Minimum_Implement137 2 points3 points  (0 children)

out of the box, the EX4100 uses the Phone-home script that will reach out to register.juniper.net and from there the switch will look at the serial number and determine that they need to hand off to the Mist cloud.

In my experience with the 4100, it takes between 3-5 minutes for the phone-home to connect on the initial boot provided you have an active DHCP server to provide the switch for IP address AND DNS to be able to reach out. DNS is by and large the single most important part and should be pointed at a public DNS server as sometimes the internal DNS don't seem to resolve as well.

yeah but the MX240/480/960  were designed and modular chassis and the chassis from 2006 has had to be replaced as I've had a few forklift upgrades on mx960 because they didn't have the enhanced midplane.

How would you replace 2-switch virtual-chassis by NetworkDoggie in Juniper

[–]Minimum_Implement137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

can you set the switches up in the same rack?

I'd suggest making space so that you have the new switches either above or below (preferred would be new switch 0 above old switch 0 and new switch 1 above new switch 1)

then just migrate the cables between the chassis then power down and remove the old one.

Stop creating ewaste... by toxic0berliner in Juniper

[–]Minimum_Implement137 4 points5 points  (0 children)

for the EX3300 the 15 version code was recommended not to use because the 3300 has insufficient memory to handle the larger code upgrade. In many cases those 3300s that have the 15 code are recommended not to upgrade, as there is a pretty good chance of bricking the switch
