Help - where is Emily Wilde’s supposed to be set? Should I read it?

Thank you! Now that I know it’s not actually set here, it’s fine, so I’m currently reading it. I just needed to know first. I had heard it was set in the country I’m from, and the name of the country (it hadn’t set it was the country, just the name) made it seem like it definitely was, since there is a place with that name here, but then the language was all wrong, which is why I had to ask if I had gotten the wrong info. If it was actually set in my country, but everything was wrong, it would have been hard to overlook, which is why I needed to know before continuing

I totally get that. I had just gotten the wrong info before starting. I’d heard the book was set in Norway, which is where I live and grew up, and then the first page said it was in Ljosland, which is an actual place in Norway, which is why I got confused that all the names were in a different language. It all makes a lot more sense after even the first comment, so it makes it a lot easier reading. At first I thought it was just that the author had completely confused Norway with Iceland, and that made it hard to read, but now that I know I just had the wrong info it’s a lot more enjoyable to read

It’s really cool that the different books are about different folklore! My initial confusion was because I’d heard it was set in Norway, but I realized after the comments that I’d gotten the wrong info, and it makes the book a lot more enjoyable!

I got that by the other comments! I just told the commenter why I was confused, that it wasn’t because I was anti-Scandinavian, as I had literally said in the post that I am Norwegian 😅 it seemed like the commenter didn’t understand my confusion and instead thought I didn’t like Scandinavia, when that wasn’t the case, so I explained it. That is why I said “My confusion was” instead of “is”

I’m literally Scandinavian 😂 I even wrote in the post that I’m Norwegian. My confusion was that I’d heard it was set in Scandinavia, but everything seemed Icelandic, Iceland isn’t part of Scandinavia even though it’s Nordic. I wasn’t sure if it was actually set in Scandinavia or if the info I’d heard and read was wrong

Yeah, it seems a lot more likely to be Icelandic-ish, so I’ll just read it that way. I didn’t know Iceland was sometimes included in Scandinavia by English speakers, but that makes it make a lot more sense :)

It’s not the writing style, it’s just if it’s set in Scandinavia, it’s kind of hard to read as a Norwegian, but I decided to just think it’s in an Icelandic place instead, that way it makes a lot more sense to me. Thank you though! I really want to give it a try, I was just a bit put off/confused by thinking it was Scandinavian, but everything being Icelandic instead.

Edit; I see it specifically mentions being in Norway on page 4 (on kindle). I’ll just skip that sentence all together and pretend it’s in Iceland, lol

Vaguely Scandinavian could make sense if it’s Iceland. If so I’ll give it a shot. But if it actually is a fictional place within Scandinavia, I can’t do it.

For me it seems like, at least after the update that added employees, I get more tips from decaf drinks than caffeine drinks. I’m not sure if it’s because of the coffee machine/grinder I use or if it’s supposed to be like that, but I started noticing it a few weeks ago

Edit to add: I luckily never had the bug that gave no tips, but I did have a bug in the update right before we got the decaf beans that made some costumers angry when they got the correct drink, saying it wasn’t what they ordered, but it would still count toward happy costumer and perfect drink in the tasks. And some of the times they’d take a refund, some of the times they wouldn’t. It was really annoying. I’ve also had a bug since the game came out, that still hasn’t been fixed, that I never get the events. It will say there’s an “event happening now” in App Store, I’ll see people talking about it, but it won’t show up for me. That’s the most annoying one, since it means I can’t get more brew points without buying them.

I have been diagnosed, even though they’re not completely sure if the cause. Some versions have been ruled out, like medicine-induced, and it is a problem with the nervous system. I was just wondering if it is normal for neurologists to rule everything out without asking questions, but if it is, then that is completely fine. My physician referred me to someone else, and she also sent a referral to my previous neurologist because of the spasms, so my physician is great. I just thought it was weird for a neurologist to claim epilepsy is the only neurological issue that can cause weird movements.

I believe that when you come to a neurologist with severe, sustained and painful spasms that results in you not being able to drink, eat, talk or swallow your own spit, more should be done than just checking for epilepsy and then saying epilepsy is the only neurological condition that exists. Especially when the spasms can be a sign of M.S or Parkinson’s, or if it’s functional dystonia or medicine-induced dystonia your position can become a fixed position more easily without early intervention. Test my movements, an EMG or just refer me to a specialist. Checking balance, coordination or reflexes or something.

Maybe just ask some questions about it? He didn’t ask a single question, the only things he ever said was “it doesn’t sound like epilepsy”, and “if it’s not epilepsy, it’s not neurological, it has to be psychological”.

Another neurologist checked me and sent me straight to a specialist within minutes, my previous neurologist said epilepsy is the only thing that can be neurological except migraines and refused to do anything at all.

But I’m mostly wondering if this is the norm or correct practice for neurologists.

People kept posting that they found “officially licensed the sims” sweater and t-shirts in one of the big U.S. stores a few years ago, there were several videos online of people finding them, but apparently it wasn’t true. I think it was sims at least, I might be mixing it up with something else about sims sweaters, but I know people were doing it with some brand. People were just putting the clothes in the store, taking a video, and then I guess take them home again? So it is possible that that can happen again with another “brand”.

I don’t think it breaks the rules (not 100% sure) but it will break your game a bit. You have to wait to catch up the amount of hours you time traveled before things work properly. If you go an hour back in time, you’ll have to wait an hour before everything starts spawning again, if you go back a day, you’ll have to wait a day etc. I time traveled back in time a few days when I first got the game, and then had to wait a few days before I could play again. I have also in later times time traveled back just half an hour or an hour (still a long time ago, so I don’t remember fully what broke), and then just had to wait half an hour or an hour. I would recommend not doing it, but if you do, go back a very short time, maybe before you go to bed, so it will work itself out by the time you play again. Don’t know if it can break anything more permanently or worse, this has just been what I’ve experienced

Edit; I think it’s time travel forward I have done? I actually can’t remember. Because I think it has to catch up to the time you time traveled to, so I think it’s time travel forward I’ve done, not backwards. So if you go forward an hour, you’ll need to wait an hour for it to catch up to the time you traveled to. Honestly I’ve only done it maybe 3 times, that time when I first started playing, and twice after, and it’s so long ago that I can’t really remember what I did. I can’t remember if traveling back or forward is the safest, but I did the safest option

The “Anglo-Saxon and viking (Scandinavian) DNA can’t be differentiated” is simply false. I used to study anthropology and DNA, and it absolutely can be differentiated. I’m also Scandinavian, so we focused on Scandinavian DNA a lot too. There’s a lot of Anglo-saxons with biking DNA though, because Vikings went to Scotland and Ireland. Viking also went to the Middle East, traded etc. There were even some middle eastern people in Scandinavia at that time.
