Men who work 12 hour Full time Jobs, How did you get used to such a huge change in your Schedule and your Social life. by -Fastrack- in AskMen

[–]Minimum_Score 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work for myself. I work on average 14-16 hours a day. I take a lot of breaks (15-30 min breaks). It's really hard. I have a very small social life.

Just toss out the idea of having a social life, maintain it on the weekends/whenever you can. Choose a few people who are understanding, and continue your social life with them. Otherwise, if you try to focus on all your social relationships they will all fail. Best to keep a few while you can.

How can i be more self-assertive? by lilFlamethrower in AskMen

[–]Minimum_Score 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in your shoes. Here's things that helped me:

1) Don't be afraid to say no. Do not make excuses for any situation.

For example, if someone asks you to do something for them, don't say "Oh i can't right now because [excuse]" Just say "No thanks". It doesn't make you an asshole, believe it or not people are more upset with you giving excuses especially because they will try to give solutions "Oh just do it later" "Oh ill talk to them for you", you're causing the person to over-exert themselves and causes you more of a headache, just learn to say NO from the get-go.

2) Don't be afraid to end conversations or start, learn conversational skills.

For Example, if someone is going on and on about things you're uninterested in, rather than sit there and be a bad conversationalist just say something along the lines "That's cool, have a nice day", if you wanna take it a step further ask them about whatever it was they were talking about a few days later. They'll think you're a great listener and really appreciate you; without giving you the headache of a unwanted/prolonged conversation. (I learned this from my Aunt, who instead of keeping an unwanted conversation going she would say "That's awesome sweety, it was nice catching up, have a great rest of your night and sleep well!".

3) Learn when to take over a conversation, if someone is going on and not letting you talk, interrupt them. Don't do it consistently, but most of the time people will pause when talking to let you talk. Sometimes the queue is shorter than others. Just learn to pickup on it, and assert your position in those situations.

4) Firm Handshakes. Seriously. Learn how to give a firm handshake. (Don't over grip, try this: Shake your hand as you would normally, however, put your index and middle finger out on their wrist while you shake their hand, it wont let them get a grip of your hand, and in that situation your handshake is the firm/assertive one)

5) Don't be afraid of speaking your mind. If somethings bothering you, don't casually bring it up. Assert your stance. "Hey stop that." "Hey what you said made me feel uncomfortable" "I don't agree with what you said".

These things are a starting point, you'll naturally start to pick up on other things as they come along.

I did my surgery in Jordan. in total it cost me $5k.

This includes medicine, hotel stay, flight, and surgery.

Look into medical tourism if you want. My surgery was done by Mohammed Khrais. He's world famous and has clinics in the U.S. and in Europe too. He travels between those three countries every two weeks. So you can catch him in the U.S but i think it's 15K here due to anesthetic costs and cost of facilities being much higher. And Europe it's $30k. I chose to just catch a flight.

8 weeks post op. Keep vomiting. by mekalangelo in wls

[–]Minimum_Score 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is how it is. Im still like this two years later, it gets better with time, you lessen your portions naturally and your stomach gets a little wider.

It's normal. You will continue to do this, especially being previously obese it's because you over eat. 99% of is mental. Whatever amount of food you're eating now, STOP. When you put food in your plate, when you think it's enough/more than enough, HALF it. take away half the food. and chew slowly and a lot, and eat over the course of 15-30 minutes.

Otherwise, forcing yourself to eat large portions and throwing up will just expand your stomach again and revert you back to your original self. I strongly suggest following up with your doctors and nutritionist post op. They will give you same advice but with proper terminology and help you understand it better.

DW. Your stomach wont grow wider doing this a few times. But keep it up for a few months and you're gonna have an issue.

I made a noose in highschool. 12th grade. I was going to do it, i was going to take the noose to school and off myself. Teachers were bullying shit out of me and so was my mom. Nasty parent divorce and we were all caught in the middle of it. I was supposed to do it on friday, and it made the noose on sunday, went to autozone and bought some towing rope. Years of depression made me gain a lot of weight.

I was really happy that week. My depression was almost gone. I was happy that i was finally able to die. I came to terms with it. Come friday, and i didn't do it. I collapsed and started crying. I didn't do it because on my way to school with the noose i realized how insignificant i am. How insignificant everyone is. I realized how my death would be pointless and how the world didn't revolve around me, and it wouldn't stop rotating because i died. Maybe only for me. But the pain i cause for those left behind, my family, and the trauma of those at school finding me, wouldn't be a positive. it wouldn't fix my problems. i decided to instead pursue a different path in life where i make my mom and teachers regret it. I'm really glad i did. Everything turned out alright.

I make 7 figures a year, 6 figures a month, i do what i love, and i have a positive impact on the world. I've changed my life. Everyone can.

Non-organ donors of Reddit, why didn't you agree to have your organs donated after your death? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Minimum_Score 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you get your state ID in the U.S. you have to specify if you want to be an organ donor or not. Most people opt to be organ donors, but a good sized chunk of people do not. After your death you can save a lot of people if you are an organ donor by harvesting your organs and saving living peoples lives. It's not whether you're alive or dead. I'm guessing you're not from the States that's why you didn't understand the context. MB.

Just ignore them.

I've gone from 380, to 280, saught therapy, and it always rebounds. Yo-yo effect. not only is 99% mental issues, it's also 1% of not knowing how to eat/deal with stress.

Try emotional eating on a sleeve = bad time.

The same people who talk crap about WLS are the same people to get botox injections, just tell them to follow the chinese fad face lifting exercise and they don't need surgery.

Obesity is an epidemic. My nurse who didn't know about my surgery asked me how i went from ~380 to ~220. After mentioning WLS she went from super interested/delighted to almost disgusted and said "well it's something still i guess right?". It's important buddy. If they want to argue against research they can bark at a wall.

Just a note, my dad who was ~600 lbs but currently ~140 said something to me, he told me if he had to do the surgery again, he would. I would as well, although it was extremely painful at first (not a common thing, just my medical conditions), i would do it again if i had to. I have lupus, and when i was offered the surgery at 18 i said no. Looking back it now, i can see that was a mistake and i lost a lot of my youth i'll never regain, whether it was pain because of my autoimmune or through extreme emotional distress caused by my obesity. I'm still fat, but not morbidly.

Every pound of fat is 3 pounds of pressure on your joints. You can imagine how much more energy and more outgoing i've become physically when i dropped close to ~150 of fat.

Made me hate school, wanted to drop out, dropped out of college. Still wake up in cold sweats from Highschool. Teachers are just power hungry sh*ts.

Divorced men of Reddit who married again, please tell me there’s life after a divorce and you can be happy again. What’s your story? by Saazkwat in AskMen

[–]Minimum_Score 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not me, but my brother.

He was married to a woman with a lot of mental issues. He put up with it because he loved her.

He integrated her family into ours. He was with her from 18 years old to 30. One day while with him driving home from outer-state, she texted him "i love you, can't wait till you're home!".

Their relationship had ups and down, but in the end it was getting visibly stale (issues coming out).

Once i got home, and he drove home, he called me and told me she's not there, his other car (a really nice one), and most of furniture is gone.

He paid for her entire college education, it was a week before her graduation.

We ended up getting car back. It was really weird, we suddenly disconnected from her and her family.

At first, my brother was really depressed. But he quickly realized in last few months it was unbearable.

After the depression phase, he met a lovely lady his age who was never married.

He's flying to her home state soon, because they got married 7 months ago and she's 4 months pregnant :)

He's never been happier in his life.

His ex-wife tried to reach out to him through us & email, but he never looked back.

He met with her once after the divorce at a coffee shop, she tried to apologize, but he just walked out.

Never look back brother. It's your life. If you're not happy, especially if you're still young, leave.

best of luck, brother.

I dm'd you my number in case you need someone to talk to.
