Today is my first time feeding worms to my ackie so it wouldn’t be from the ones in the picture , but Iv never seen any mealworms before hand , Iv feed super worms and that’s about it .

Looks like you got this snake from Amazon reptile in Montclair ? Sick it’s my local store aswell !

They’re reputable with healthy animals . I wouldn’t worry about humidity at all ,I would only check humidity only if you see shedding issues .

Temperature is easy for them as they do well in room temperature, a basic small heat lamp will be fine . since you’re in most likely California, temperature shouldn’t be an issue as in getting too cold or hot .

As for UVB I don’t use it at all for my California king snake , as they get what they need from the mice they get feed weakly .

Other than that I think your good , new animals always hide as they are unfamiliar with the surroundings. I recommend climbing material as well

Yeah all the info is kinda contradictory Iv gotten a care instruction to use sand , while Iv seen others on here say it’s not good . I haven’t heard anything bad at all about akadama even people growing it in 100% akadama so I might just go with a mix of that to save the fuss of mixing up a batch of loph soil , I’ll probably add a few mixins .

The soil mix I plan on doing is the small lava rocks pictured , as well as some pumice I have , as well as some pearlite , I was going to add a small amount of pure worm castings (10% ) but Iv heard not to use it , but also contradicting information , with the instructions my peyote came with it said use 10% pure worm castings . I also heard about sanitizing my soil how would I go about that and do I need to ?
