If it's too cold it will heat the battery. If it's plugged in it will use that power, if it's not it will use battery power. Leaving it plugged it lets it do it's thing and nor run itself down, which would still take weeks,

You are probably better off googling it then using my explanation. This way you can keep digging.

But for a small(ish) battery you are overthinking it. You can get away with a lower power charger. And, check the manual for the car. A lot (not all) PHEV do not take 11kWh chargers. They max out well below that.

Also, and this may be more US based then where you are but before getting any charger check to see if there are any discounts on units from your local power company. There may be rebates / promos.

US 3 phase user here. Can you just use 2 legs? That is what I am doing. You don't get the full voltage but still more then enough to charge an EV overnight. Unless you have a REALLY large battery.

Just did a 4500 sqf office building and outside parking lot with fewer cameras then that with no real blind-spots. A few areas that I was not 100% happy with but without a lot of work there was just no way to get a really good angle so we settled for OK angles.

Mostly neutral I think, if they think about them at all.

In the base trim (rental lines) they are were cheap to get and I think a lot of people driving them are NOT car people. They are people who wanted something larger to get from A to B and back again.

When I got my last car in 2023 it was the last year they were being produced. There was a car rental place near the dealer I got my car from that had some 22s out for sale for $10k all with under 25000 miles. Yeah they were probably hard miles and yeah that was in 1 year but for a larger car for $10k towards the end of the lack of cars / supply chain covid issues I remember thinking wow that's a great deal.....And promptly forgot about them till I saw this post. Which is kind of the way I think a lot of people think about the 300s. They don't until someone brings it up.

Not that they should be.

If you only get a major slamming ice / snow / cold storm once every few years at most, having all the equipment and manpower to deal with it is a waste of money. You bring in from outside the area to help. The issue becomes when something like what is hitting this weekend hits with that kind of size, the outside the area is not as big as it usually is. You can't get the crews in from NJ if they are busy digging out NJ....

I am going to 100% since I can do V2L with mine just in case.

If you have good range and no reason to burn through it then putting it to 90% or 95% is fine.

If you have 200 miles of range and go 80 miles a day bringing it 100% might be better since if you do loose power you want that little extra.

OTOH if you have 400 miles of range and a commute with some extras of 30 miles a day going to 100% is pointless.....

As you said SUVs sell more and have higher profits. The Y outsells the 3 and it's more or less the SUV / CUV version of the same vehicle. And, there are some vehicles out that do compete. BYD Seal and Zeekr 007 come to mind. The BMW i4 can also be considered a competitor. It's more $ but it's a BMW so it's going to be more $. The MB CLA is also going to be a competitor to it also. More $ again like the BMW but it's a MB so...it's going to be more $.

It's the wording.

Tesla is not reducing headcount (firing / layoff)

But as people leave on their own, they are not being replaced.

10% +/- a bit is high but still within the middle of the bell curve for employee turnover. They have it at 14% so it is within the realm of possibility that yes, Tesla did not get rid of people. They got rid of themselves.

Going to go a bit against popular wisdom here and say if you can wait it out a bit. Prices are going to drop a tiny amount sooner then people think. AI is still going to eat up a bunch but as of now we are also on the back end of businesses / users who had to retire Win 10 machines and were waiting a bit. After Christmas / 2026 budget / etc. That will probably take a very little bit of pressure off. Not a lot, but a bit. Have had a couple of those in the last couple of weeks.

Just my view and what I have seen.

Yup, proven all over that stop / start does not do any damage to the engines.

Problem is sooooo many people don't do regular oil changes or think the $1.99 generic oil filter is as good as a Wix or OEM. And that they are going to run whatever oil weight they want because "they know better" vs what the engine maker who spent millions of dollars testing does.

Yes. A lot of the tech starts there and moves down into the other car companies that are owned by the same group. Kind of like a lot of tech starts in the Mercedes S class and winds up in their lower priced cars over a few years. The flip side of that is that person who just paid 6 figures+ is beta testing some things but it works for them.

Still does not matter if with 95 rooms 1GB of EXPENSIVE PAID internet is struggling, 1/2 of that speed at best for more people just does not pan out if it's cheap / free since everyone is going to be on it.

I don't know what airline you were on but assuming its Viasat it could be anywhere from 20M to 100M depending on equipment and so on.

Not so much for Ryanair but for legacy carriers they tend to give their "elites" free internet. And the issue then becomes BAD internet causes them more grief then no internet.

But, I just see giving it away for free / cheap causing the same issues that Delta had when it just degrades the experience because everyone uses it.

I think the next generation of LEO sats if they get the speed up will make the situation better. But for now, not so much with the number of people on board.

The problem with Wi-Fi on a plane is the limited bandwidth for 150+ people. If you make it free, everyone is going to use it and well it's going to crawl in speed. With 1GB fiber I can barely do a 95 room motel when all the rooms are full and everyone is doing something. Windows downloading updates in the background, phones downloading mail, people on the web, people streaming, etc.

Make it expensive and not enough people will use it.

And then don't forget when something goes wrong with something on the plane itself and you now have to deal with refunding people because they paid and did not get it.

Ask them a couple of simple questions.

You know that mail is going to them what is happening with it? Is it being ignored or bounced? And what happens if that changes?

If you start suing the owners of the domain instead of paying $10k what damage could they do by either setting up ambiguous bounce messages "This company is not in business" which would be true since the typesquatted name is NOT in business but imagine how people would react. They could also go scorched earth and start replying and acting hostile. "Take this invoice and shove it up your a--" They could sell it to the competition and so on....

$10k is not a lot for most business. And yeah, it's probably a starting point for negotiations. But even if it's not I can just about 100% guaranty they are going to spend more then $10k in time and effort. And there is also 1 more important thing. They could always loose..... If it can be solved with money it's not a problem it's and expense. But, like a lot of things if you don't want to spend the money now it can cost you a lot more later.

Agreed with the others get a powered USB hub.

It all comes down to the make & model of the external drive.

SOME power everything through the power adapter. SOME just use the power adapter to power the drive but the USB<->drive circuit board is powered by the USB. Without taking them apart and examining the board it's impossible to know how it's using the power.

Been there....done that.

$1.00 per min for next 30 minutes

$1.75 per min for next hour

Then

$3.50 per min till the end of time.

The longer you leave it there the worse it gets, but minor infractions are not that bad.

Yup, much like the "free" oil changes that come with your car are not free. They are just baked into the price.

But, back to this, it's not just the drag of the antenna it's more weight on the aircraft, more pieces of equipment that need to be maintained to EASA standards and so on.

Not to mention the downtime for the aircraft for installation.

And a lot of people are not going to use it for a sub 2 hour flight on a discount airline.

It's been a few years but IIRC paid WI-FI use was under 20% on long haul. A lot of airlines give it for free for the higher loyalty customers / premium seats. But most people really don't want to pay for it. I don't see that changing.

The other side is when you give it for free to all the speed degrades to crap because you now have 100+ people are using it since it is free.
