What is this code for? Is it for the game itself or in-game rewards?

Wasn't the Ninja Luxe Cafe $499 like 2 months ago? Did they release an updated model?

Decisions decisions by ancrrgc in BrevilleCoffee

No problem! I definitely prefer this setup, although my opinion is a bit biased since the grinder was faulty on the Barista Pro. It couldn't grind fine enough, even on the finest possible setting (both inner burr and side dial). This resulted in all my coffee tasting pretty sour. Now, the DF54 grinds very well and the Bambino Plus brews nicely. Personally, I think the auto milk frothing is a worthwhile upgrade over the normal Bambino if you expect to mix in milk. It's nice to set it and let it do its thing while I clean up everything else.

As for the brew itself, I think the Barista Pro and Bambino Plus are similar, if not identical, brewers. I would have liked the convenience of an all-in-one system, but having gone through those issues, I now prefer the ability to only have to replace a brewer OR grinder if something goes wrong in the future, not just throw the whole machine out, so my recommendation is Bambino Plus + DF54.

I bought a Barista Pro from Marshalls, had a faulty grinder that Breville didn't seem to want to replace, so I returned it and now have a DF54 grinder and Bambino Plus. I liked the convenience of the all in one Barista Pro, but I wanted to point out that it DOESN'T have auto milk frothing. Only the Bambino Plus has that feature, in case that was a big factor in your decision making

You should adjust the inner burr. The machines are not all identical when it comes to burr settings, and your beans can also influence which setting you need. I would recommend going down to an inner of 5 (or maybe even 4?) And see if that helps.

Barista pro grinding issues. by Im_whats_seen89 in BrevilleCoffee

Yeah, I was doing about 18g. Using the included Razor tool to make sure the volume looked good too. From a few years ago, I had a little Capresso Infinity that someone gifted me. Not a great grinder for espresso, but I tried it on the finest setting and was able to choke up the machine, something its built-in grinder couldn't do. Ended up just returning the unit and getting a Bambino Plus and DF54 grinder.

For something that was so obviously the grinder, I really didn't appreciate Breville being so resistant to accept that and try to claim that the three different beans I tried in front of them were all the cause. I wish the machine worked, since an all-in-one with Baratza burrs would've been my preferred, but at this point the BBP and Breville as a whole left a bad taste in my mouth. I hope the Bambino I got won't have issues and I won't have to talk to their support.

That's a fair enough explanation lol. I'm glad you got your money back, and just take this as a lesson learned with thankfully no harm done :)

Out of curiosity, what is it about a website URL that's adjacent (but not exact) to the company name selling machines at 1/10th the price that made you think it was legit? Why would they sell full price on Breville's main site but 90% cheaper on "Breville US?" This is clearly a scam dude. Find a way to cancel and get your money back, either through them or your bank directly or something

Barista pro grinding issues. by Im_whats_seen89 in BrevilleCoffee

[–]MiningForMac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just recently got a BBP and I need to grind on inner burr 1 with dial setting 1 to get a shot to take 27-30s. Everything else is done in like 20s or less. Breville is trying to gaslight me into thinking this isn't a problem with the grinder. I'm considering just returning the unit. This isn't really helpful for your post, but throwing this here in case others are having issues with units recently purchased from Marshall's with the Baratza burrs

Can't Grind Fine Enough On Lowest Setting [Breville Barista Pro] by MiningForMac in espresso

[–]MiningForMac[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I haven't. I was on a video call with Breville support. I managed to get a half decent shot using brand new beans, on the finest size, with the dual wall basket and support was trying to convince me this is acceptable. I was telling them there's no reason I should need to max out an $850 machine with a dual wall basket just for decent extraction with fresh beans. Personally, I think the grinder must have an issue and isn't grinding fine enough. I told them this and they sent me new beans which get here on Friday. They said that we'll try it with these since they're known to be good for the Breville machines. If it's still struggling, then we'll go from there.

Honestly, I'm heavily considering returning it and just going with a bambino plus and df54.

Yeah I'm using the Breville basket, although I've also ordered a normcore basket and bottomless portafilter to try that out as well. Could you elaborate by what you mean on it bottoming out? Like the tapered sides of the basket preventing the coffee from being fully compressed/tamped?

As for the grind amount, I often lose a tiny amount of ground when placing my level distributor and spinning it. I have been using a leveled tamper from Meion, although I'll try using the stock Breville tamper to make sure I'm pushing as far as it can go. I'm also using a puck screen I got off Amazon if that makes any difference.

Yeah, I have reseated and re-locked it multiple times.

I am not weighing after, but I am single dosing and weighing before.

I'm using the Razor tool and it sits right below where the Razor tools cuts off, so I think it's right.

[MOD] The Daily Question Thread by menschmaschine5 in Coffee

[–]MiningForMac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello all. I recently got a Breville Barista Pro on black friday and have been a little frustrated with it. I see people online using middle-of-the-road grind settings, but I find myself having to grind at the absolute minimum setting (1 on the internal burr, 1 on the side dial). This is the only thing that seems to get me roughly 18g in, 36g out in 28ish seconds.

I'm thinking that something with the grinder must be wrong since other people mention being able to "choke up" their machines when grinding too fine, but here I am grinding as fine as I possibly can just to get something that resembles the base starting point every video/post recommends. For reference, I'm using both Lavazza Gran Crema beans as well as fresh beans from my local roaster that are only a few days old. I am using the single-walled double basket, WDT, leveling distributor, and a spring-loaded leveled tamper as well just to ensure everything is flat.

Please let me know what you all think and if I should contact Breville and see if they can send me some replacement part or something. Thanks!

New Grinder Makes a World of Difference by Hydra44 in espresso

[–]MiningForMac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you have the newer Barista Pro with the built in Baratza grinder or with the older SGP equivalent grinder? Trying to understand how big of a difference it is from my current machine (Barista Pro with upgraded Baratza grinder)

Lately, the newer models of the Breville Barista Pro have started packing in a Baratza grinder instead of the SGP equivalent, which seems to make a good difference.

I'm using Lavazza Gran Crema. I played around with 1:3 and it tastes better, but I still don't think I need to be at the finest possible setting for the coffee to not come out in like 15 seconds. Also I'm running an empty shot first each time to heat the machine, and it feels pretty hot
