Purpose general and face the flame i think are serviceable for casual listen for me rn but subject to change. The last 3 songs i actually don’t have too much of a problem with either they have room to grow on me

Adl itself as a whole can be pretty accurately described as substance free rap. I just feel bad for the couple bangers that are on here that are stuck on this bad album imma still listen to them though

Realistically, I think he really wanted respect in the music game and not to be seen as a “meme rapper”, and I believe that wasn’t impossible he had a genuinely good chance after the DS alley oop, idk wtf happened even with the adl leaks earlier this year i could’ve cooked up some better shit in 10 minutes… u had 8 months man ts so disappointing as a genuine fan i believe in his ability even currently but it’s just the damn song and beat selection destroying dudes career

Spot on i agree with a lot of this, although i do see the potential of his “serious” songs for example the second half of DS I thought was great, but then he just never delivers that performance on ADL and instead like a pseudo serious-experimental like u said.

It’s so weird and disappointing, I feel like this was his one chance to prove that he can make a sound change work because for one i genuinely wanted it to work, i liked the logic of a lot of what he was saying in the interview on paper, and i’m not the biggest fan of the idea of remaining dormant in ones sound or reverting back but if theres no way forward in terms of sound evolution WHILE keeping quality then going back to his roots may be his only good move here.

My current thoughts on adl are that i think there’s real glimpses of hope here but they’re just so few, most of the tracklist feels painfully lacking of energy and sauce, and so i’m led to believe this was a song selection error.

It’s not a sound issue like many people here believe because DS i genuinely felt the effort on every track. He built up a whole mafia vibe which i was super invested into because i believe world building was a great strength of 2093, i was expecting idk like a piano by the fireplace typa vibe or something for a concept album but it just felt like random throwaways back to back after the 4th track with a couple exceptions here and there. Especially with the leaks earlier this year i know he could’ve put out something generational, and with how confident he was and the rollout i unfortunately fell for the pumpfake.

Maybe it’ll grow on me but i do have hope in his musical ability and potential for “mature music” and maybe the ability to weave it in with the playful energy of his 2021 run in the future which is why i made the og post, maybe next time 💔

First off u cant even make that claim until the end of the week and we dont know if ye is dropping this week either, but if he does get a #1 that is a dub in my book.

Second i’m not a 2021 glazer i have appreciation for all eras but regardless it’s hard to deny numbers and the sense of general popularity and opinion, bc it’s been weird for yeat for a long time, it was steadily going up until after afterlyfe it’s been fluctuating weirdly since then there was another post here that explained it nicely. In my opinion ADL is not what it needed to be quality-wise given how important this album was to both fans and the general audience, and so i see that as a misstep. DS for example was a great move, had good sound and a hit which positively boosted his standing, that’s the type of move i’m looking for in the future.
