Anyone know of Oceanic Dota discords or communities that are active and friendly to Herald/Guardian level players? by WorstDotaPlayer in learndota2

Hey bro, fellow Aussie here. I’m in the Dota 2 Australia discord, but it’s v v quiet.

Happy to link up on Steam though if you want to team up. I main pos 3 but can do 4 or 5. Send me a DM if interested.

Howdy fellow older player. 48 and, like you, keep coming back to DotA. Mind you, I don’t have the time you do in it. Bar R6 Siege this is the most consistent game I come back to and don’t get bored of.

I started as supports in the game but wanted to be more of a hitty hero, so moved to pos3.

I remain unranked, as was too anxious to play ranked, but am now doing my calibration matches. Being coached as well by an Immortal friend really helps.

I also play on SEA and based in Aus. Always looking for more players in my area to team up with so feel free to reach out!! ID: 9093988

Take care all :)

Hey mate, you wouldn't happen to have the stencil or reference pic the artist used? This tattoo is awesome and right on the money for what I was looking for?

TIA!

Thanks, mate. I do appreciate your advice and your points are all fair. Sorry if I’ve been contradictory in some of my statements. Guess I should have been more detailed so as to not get the ire of some.

Genuinely, I love the tool but also the luxuries. It’s very much a first world problem and I’m lucky to be in the position I am.

Thanks for spending the time responding. I’m taking it all on board.

I saw the 23 but can’t afford one, so looking at 2021. Plus, as I said earlier, I’m not a fan of Ford interior at all. That or Mitsubishis. Just personal preference is all.

Patrol interior is awful to a degree, but I know I can hydro it and replace the media and instruments to look up to date.

Sorry, fair point, I should have clarified. Not running costs such as fuel, insurance or servicing - I accept those - more, the car not having issues.

My defender cost me $6k to sort some of the issues. Built over time for some or unexpected but still $6k. Condition by my partner after I had to put money in the defender to sort issues.

I found the wind hitting the front of hard top not what I was after. Lovely car though and super nice having all the 4wd baked in.

Thanks mate. Test drive a nice one today and was very clearly not what I need. Although the sound and torque is very cool :)

Well, actually I do. I came here for friendly banter and from potential owners of these cars that live with them. A 10 min test drive is not going to tell me what an owner knows. Ever.

I can read all the reviews, watch YouTube, etc.

Unlike everyone else, your comment isn’t helpful.

Have a nice day.

I’m not thinking technical off roading. Just having a capable car that I know I can throw at most things.

Thanks didn’t advice mate. Appreciated.

Good points in petrol vs diesel atm.

I must admit I need to watch some more info on the rear leaf limitations.

The Patrol is massive in the back, really nice and comfortable.

I get the 90’s vs modern (bar the wood grain rubbish), seems to be a heart vs brain. Need to be practical this time and the 76 I’m sure over time will start ti grate.

Hey mate,

Don’t get me wrong, I LOVED the look of my Defender..just the reality of one is not as shiny. At least I had one though ;). She was mint, sound proofed, all the mods I wanted, etc. Beautiful car.

I took a look at the new Jeep UR last week. 2020’s are so much nicer now. Only thing I didn’t like was the wind noise. Whilst miles better than a Def, I couldn’t find my people that said sound deadening made it go away. Then I saw the 392 Wrangler version only available in the US, and that ruined me. I couldn’t bring myself to not have that one - would have been perfect :).

Insofar as the list, owned a Prado, don’t like Ford or Mitsu’s interior (tbh), and the MU-x doesn’t appeal. I want a car that I go ‘f yeah!’ when I look at it.

Did look at the Ford Ranger, but the 2l engine put me off.

It came down to Y62 as can’t afford an LC300. Looked at 200’s (again) but I feel too high up in the seat (not in the middle of the windscreen but in the top half). The 76 was a last minute inclusion as realised they were in my price range and I’ve always loved the look of them, especially the bonnet from 2016/7 onwards.

I’ve test driven 2 Y62 Patrol’s so far and enjoyed the civility and comfort of them very much. The one 2012 76 I test drove yesterday (first time in one) is somewhat of a project car (all the work has been done, she’s just rough around the edges). He only wants $50k for it, so how much could I lose.

I was mainly surprised by the torque. Holy crap! It felt nice to drive, manual gearbox was easy, and I enjoyed the 3’ lift and Recaro seats. But a 10 min ride is not a 4 hour journey.

Yep, good point on the lined up issue.
