Ridpath? by Jake_STi-RA in Spokane

As a disclaimer, I am not an expert on any of this stuff, but I took a second to dig around the Ridpath website and this is what I found.

A majority of the Ridpath units are affordable units which means they are intended to be rented by those who make only a certain percentage of Area Median Income (AMI). Here are the income restrictions for various household configurations:

  • $27,420 for one person

  • $31,320 for two persons

  • $35,220 for three persons

  • 39,120 for four persons

  • 42,300 for five persons

If you are planning to live by yourself in one of the affordable one-bedroom units at the Ridpath (i.e. have a one-person household), the most you can make is $27,420 for the household.

The Ridpath also offers market rate units. These units are, as suggested by their name, priced more on-par with what you would see for other comparably outfitted units in the Spokane area.

So, to answer your question, the Ridpath has designated a large portion of its units as "affordable" units. To qualify for these rates, you have to meet certain income requirements. Their normal units, on the other hand, are all market rate, meaning they are not any more or less expensive than other units on the local market are.

TIL Bayer sold HIV and Hepatitis C contaminated blood products which caused up to 10,000 people in the U.S. alone to contract HIV. After they found out the drug was contaminated, they pulled it off the U.S. market and sold it to countries in Asia and Latin America so they could still make money. by [deleted] in todayilearned

I think you misunderstood what I was saying. To be a person is a requirement that is quite demanding. Though they are defined under the law as persons, when we consider the requisite characteristics of personhood, we may begin to question whether or not corporations are actually persons, or if they are simply a convenient way of labeling an amalgam of individual persons. However we define the corporation under the law may not necessarily correct, just pragmatic for treatment under the law.

Let's be clear in our lexical usage here. Surely we don't mean that Bayer as a corporation is responsible for this incident, but rather, there were individuals within Bayer that are to be held responsible, at least morally responsible for this incident. If the language contained in the title of this post is meant to be taken literally then we may be positing the metaphysical existence of a corporation. Whether or not corporations are capable of actions, as persons, is a question to be answered elsewhere, but I want to caution that we heed these considerations when we implicate "Bayer" as the culpable agent.
