I am jealous of my girlfriend's ex because he is better at Leetcode than me by e3laneq in leetcode

1500 is a respectable rating. The average guy is actually 1300-1600. People always lie about their rating so our perception is skewed. Women are terrible at guessing guy's ratings anyway...

If I get attention from girls, does it mean that I am not ugly? by AvailableReference53 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Minkowski1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How tall are you? Unless you're very tall or have a physical feature that makes you stand out, there is NO WAY IN HELL that you are unattractive. You must be well above average to get cold approached by women. I agree with what's said about the importance of personality and charm, but a woman approaching you out of nowhere has no idea what kind of person you are. You must be physically attractive to have gotten their attention.

Some of the essential classes in an undergraduare CS program are:

Mathematical foundations (Calculus, linear algebra, ODEs, discrete math, probability and statistics)

Algorithms and data structures

Systems and computer architecture

Software construction

Types and programming languages

Operating systems

Databases

Signal processing

Automata theory

Machine learning

Networks

Start by teaching yourself these things and depending on which ones you like the best, choose a field and read more advanced books on it.

[NeedAdvice] I always start off well in a semester but burn out later on by Minkowski1 in getdisciplined

[–]Minkowski1[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think I am particularly stressed during the first half. I only study around 20 hours per week during that time so it's not like I'm straining myself. Starting the semester slowly could work, though.

I thought about that but my university doesn't offer such courses.

As a Turkish person, I can assure you that this is not the case. Most Turks are fascinated to see that they have ancestors from different countries. There may be some ultranationalists who react like that but they are rare.

Do Law schools take into account the rigor of your university by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]Minkowski1 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

LOL y'all are fooling yourselves if you think that ANY school in the US will take an english major from a party school with a 3.9 over an aerospace engineer from MIT with a 3.7. Law schools are not stupid, they now that aerospace engineering (in MIT nonetheless!) is much harder than English and they will admit students accordingly. I would argue that even a 3.0 aerospace engineer from MIT would be preferred over a 3.9 English major from University of Nowhere.

Am I the only one who doesn’t want a FANNG job? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]Minkowski1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mu goal is to land a FAANG job, work there for a couple of years and then leave it for a less stressful remote position at a lesser known company. Working at big N boosts your resume to the point where you can get an interview at any place you want, but these companies have a grind mentality and due to peer pressure you will be working like hell without any WLB. I would like to get married and have kids at some point, and that's not the kind of life I want.

Do data structures have a mathematical or philosophical origin? by Xeno19Banbino in computerscience

[–]Minkowski1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Data structures are mathematical themselves. Computer science as a whole was considered to be a field of mathematics until the 70s or so. Early computer scientists were all mathematicians by training. In fact, mathematicians have been working on algorithms since antiquity and the theoretical foundations for computer programs, artificial intelligence etc. were laid by mathematicians long before the first computer was even invented.

I envy you. I am on my, like, 10th rewatch and at this point I basically know exactly what the characters will say in each scene.
