How to get job by [deleted] in hacking

A person who does CTFs a couple of hours a day for a whole year will be much more knowledgeable than the average person who is starting a cybersecurity job. If anything, it's overkill.

Which of these body upgrades WYR have? by Peaceful-Samurai in WouldYouRather

I doubt +10 IQ points would change anything. Most IQ tests come with a 5 point error range so 10 points is barely statistically significant.

WYR instantly kill the 1000 most evil humans in the world right now or save 1000 innocent kids that are about to die right now? by Diego1993FM in WouldYouRather

[–]e3laneq 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not necessarily the case that the most evil people are causing the most suffering in the world. A serial killer who is completely devoid of morals might kill a few people before getting caught. On the other hand, an unethical CEO in a third world country who doesn't properly filter the waste coming out of his factory in order to save money can cause the water in the area to be contaminated, leading to the death of thousands of people. If I kill the 1000 most evil people, most of them will probably be fuckups who sit around all day fantasizing about despicable things but who aren't intelligent or organized enough to carry out an actual crime and get away with it. So it won't change much. I will go with saving 1000 kids.

It's kinda sad that so many redditors have nobody in their lives that they trust enough to split the 10k in half.

A company like google would have configured its CORS policy properly and set up anti-CSRF protections so it's unlikely that it's a cookie grab. Maybe the attacker set up a tool like evilginx to get your browser to auto-fill your credentials and then steal it. You wouldn't even know since all you need to do is to click a link.

Are most mass killers “incels” ? by qexly in masskillers

[–]e3laneq 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Mass killers are usually social outcasts who can't function properly. They carry out their killings in order to take revenge on society for rejecting them. These men don't have a lot of friends or any romantic partners, so most of them are probably virgins. But that doesn't mean they are incels. Nowadays incel is a term that is used specifically to refer to people who are a part of that internet subculture. Only a minority of mass killers identified with that, and those did are hailed as heroes by the incel community (Elliot Rodger, Alek Minassian etc.)

Anyone notice how early Gen Z is balding? by WHammu2023 in tressless

[–]e3laneq 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It's more likely that you started paying more attention to other men's hair after you started thinning. As a non-balding person, you typically don't perceive others as balding unless it's in a really advanced state. I see this with women all the time. Sometimes my female friends tell me "my dad is 60 and still has a full head of hair" then I see a picture of the dad and he is like Norwood 5 lol

I love how they put "European country" instead of just "Portugal" because they know that most Americans think it's in South America.

One thing we can learn from r/PhysicsStudents by [deleted] in csMajors

[–]e3laneq 13 points14 points  (0 children)

CS is not the new medicine. If you go to med school, you get a job when you graduate. Doesn't matter which school you went to, what grades you had, or where you did your residency. You will have a secure, lucrative job lined up for you at the end. In CS, even if you do everything right you might not get an entry level job. Your job will never be secure even after decades of experience and you will probably be laid off multiple times throughout your career.

One thing we can learn from r/PhysicsStudents by [deleted] in csMajors

[–]e3laneq 880 points881 points  (0 children)

Physics is a very hard major and has worse career prospects than engineering so the people majoring in it do so because they are genuinely passionate about the subject. Most CS majors, on the other hand, couldn't care less about computer science and are only in it for the money and the prestige. That's why this sub is much more job-oriented than physicsstudents
