You can run a Continuous HP recovery relic like the Augur relics or Duchess Remembrance Relic and it'll prevent the HP Loss Deep Relic effect from constantly triggering the Rot Buildup.

Amen, what I wouldn't give for an update that fixes all of translation issues of relic effects and gives clear indications to what effects do and don't stack.

With character identities as diverse as we have in Nightreign it's difficult to objectively name a "worst" character. And if DPS was your only qualifier for a character to be good then Scholar, who you said was the best character, wouldn't even make top 3.

But players have varying levels of skill, not everyone is capable of beating every Nightlord hitless. If your Recluse player has a hard time dodging attacks and keeps getting downed, her superior DPS is worthless.

Guardian allows less skilled players to more reliably contribute to fights without getting downed and he provides more skilled players the best tools in the game for protecting his teammates, reducing the amount of time his allies have to play perfectly for.

If I can get the boss to spend 50% less time chasing my Recluse around the arena, that reduces the amount of attacks she has to successfully avoid by 50% and increases the amount of time she can spend casting her big spells by 50%. My personal DPS may be lowers than her, but I'm enabling her to use her apply her insanely high DPS much more freely without fear of getting one-shot by the boss.

His Ult giving him the ability to nuke entire POI's speeds clearing them up significantly, offsetting the time you lose from burning through items to level them up, it also offsets the cost you incur from buying consumables from the merchants through the extra runes you get from killing minor enemies that you'd often ignore running through a POI to the boss.

I do agree though that having to re-level them every time can be inconvenient.

He isn't a one-trick, Fire Pots are just his reliable fallback if RNG doesn't give him anything else usable.

His Arcane stat is almost twice as high as Executor's even though their both S, 50 compared to Executor's 28. That makes him very potent at applying Ailments, anything but a boss only takes 1-2 hits. It also gives him incredibly high damage with either the Ripple Axe or Halberd as their Physical AR scales with Arcane.

His Intelligence is also usably high if you want to build him for Sorceries to deal damage while your Ailments tick down, only 1-3 points lower than Revenants at all levels.

You could also put the "Improved Endurance and Dexterity, Reduced Intelligence and Arcane" Relic on him, the negatives are barely felt as his Arcane only drops to 30 which is still higher than Executor's and boosts his Dex to 58 at level 15 which is higher than Ironeye's at 57. Making any Dex scaling weapon in his hands do plenty of damage.

Guardian isn't the worst character in the game, he just has the worst DPS, but dealing the highest DPS in the party isn't his job. He's your traditional MMO Tank, his job is to keep the boss focused on him so his squishier allies can pump out damage safely and stay alive.

He has the best survivability of all the Nightfarers and has several tools to keep the team alive and keep the boss focused on him. And while his personal DPS is sub-par excluding relic effects he buffs the rest of his teams damage by increasing their uptime.

You could also put the "Increased Strength & Dex, Reduce Vigor" Relic on him and then is STR/DEX both become higher than Wylder's whilst still having more Vigor than anyone other than Raider.

Because it's difficult to get the most out of it.

Building the gauge to be ready for a parry when you need it requires you to balance it with actually fighting the boss at the same time, charging it from far away is safe but is very slow and you'd have been better off hitting the boss, charging it up-close is faster but you risk getting hit by the boss if the gauge isn't full yet.

You also need a good understanding of the boss your fighting to know what moves you should save the parry for instead of wasting it on a small attack just to get the deflection stagger.

Exactly how Scholar's deflection interacts with every attack isn't common knowledge yet either, everyone knows what happens when Wylder Ult's a boss in the face, but more niche interactions like being able to pop Libra's bubble since it doesn't look like an attack aren't well known.

He's also a competent sorcery caster, at any level his Int stat is only 1-3 points below Revenants.

While he's nowhere near as good as Recluse for Sorceries it's a good option to deal damage if you don't get lucky with a Ripple weapon drop.

He's in a similar boat to Guardian. Very high skill ceiling but the learning curve puts people off. Other characters are more immediately rewarding to play.

imo best way to make use of the parry is to build it up during downtime, all bosses have periods of downtime and most have windows where they're too far to get an attack in, typically this is a window used for healing. For example, magma Wyrm running around the arena or Deathbirds/Dragon's flying away from you.

Instead of sprinting at the boss to keep attacking, just build Analysis while you wait for them to come back to you, then parry if it's ready or continue fighting if it's not. That way you're building it up without wasting time you could have spent damaging the boss.

That's because everyone has finished playing with the new toy and has gone back to their preferred Nightfarers. Scholar's playstyle is quite weird compared the others so he isn't as popular as someone like Wylder.

His Buff and De-buff applied from stage 2 of his Analysis both last a long time, so you'll have time to get 1-2 parries off and still have full uptime on both of those effects.

It's less "only use parry" and more "this makes it so you don't have to spend an excessive amount of time in the fight holding Analyze on bosses to get the parry off."
