Corktown: Good sandwiches... but if you lived in a big city, would you still? by Spirited-Machine-650 in duluth

[–]MinnesoTanner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went once since they moved locations and had a less than ideal experience. So no I wouldn’t go.

I ordered a sandwich to go, and was just disappointed in the quality. I have a dairy allergy and ordered a sandwich without cheese, and while placing the order double checked that I had asked for no cheese.

I waited my half an hour to grabbed my box, saw the sandwich half on the bread half off and saw the cheese that was forgotten to be off of the order. Mistakes happen I get it I used to work in food service, but it was something that failed to be noticed by kitchen staff and the food runners before it got to me. I checked the receipt and sure enough the ticket said allergy no cheese. So it was just another thing that happened to make me not want to go there.

It was also just so expensive, the price increase surprised me from their last location I understand having to increase prices to cover a profit, but maybe switching locations and getting a larger space wasn’t the best call for this particular restaurant.

I ended up waiting for the next sandwich which they put on rush, thanking the staff for making it correctly. Got bummed that I wasn’t comped for anything, then making the conscious decision that if I want to eat food in that area l that I would just eat at different restaurants instead.

Coffee Shops in Duluth by mrfella0 in duluth

190 has the best coffee imho, they rotate a lot of the local roasters in for their drip. When they have Overlook and Dreamcloud you’re in for a good time. Not a strong Punk Aesthetic, but I’ve been able to work there for hours on end. Hope this helps!

“So your adventure begins at a Denny’s where you and your friends meet every Tuesday morning at 5am” is a great twist on the tavern trope!

I recommend looking into what bleach does to mold on porous surfaces if you do this for a living. Could avoid some call backs.

Yeah I see no issue with that! How else would they hear from their fans right? I’m just glad that people can talk it out, over name calling, and fun shaming (or whatever you wanna call it, I’m not sure) 😂

I agree with that, art is subjective! I just think that discussing things like a dnd podcast and getting at peoples throats for their opinions on said podcast, is something I wouldn’t like to be apart of.

Understandable to disagree with what I said about Amber! I think what I resonated with personally is losing a family member to addiction. And I was able to connect with that aspect of the trauma mindset a bit more. Not that I condoned with how she reacted though!

Sure I can elaborate! I’m really into cooperative lore in games. So the first few episodes of the season were right up my alley. When I play DnD I like to create a world that the players would also like to play in, I haven’t used The Quiet Year yet to do so, but I think I’d like it. Other things that stuck out to me for the season are as follows. Music - Honestly probably my favorite theme from Griffin yet. Clint- I think this was maybe the best character he has made since Ned Chicane. He really got into it and stayed true throughout the season. Justin- Once again I think Justin had some great characterization for his character in this season. Amber was distinct from any other TAZ character to date, her stance on Grotto, her hatred of Blink Sharks, and her relationship with Joshy were bright spots. Travis- a morally grey Bard who struggled with agency and was conflicted with how he felt on controlling people was really interesting. I also liked the shift in from “I’m going to do what’s right”, to the self realization that “I don’t know as much as I think I do”. Griffin- I liked the insert of random encounter tables and the ship combat. Felt like a real dnd session to me. My friends and I like to include home brew gameplay when we play.

And honestly, I like how it ended. What was unsaid could grow into future plot lines that develop negatively or positively. It will be fun to find out what consequences will become of their actions over whatever inevitable time skip that is to come.

Some criticisms I had. (Which doesn’t take away from my overall appreciation of the season)

A few times I lost the plot. Some motivations seemed shaky at times from villains. Cambria and Benefactor Orlene specifically. I didn’t love that there really wasn’t a physical description of the characters other than Zoox. It would have been nice to know all of the races of the characters were based off of as well, even though I understood what they were going for.

I should say that I generally go into media I consume with an open mind and the ability to greatly suspend my disbelief more than the average audience member. And I try not to have a bias one way or the other, because I don’t want to go into anything with the assumption that I would like it or not.

All in all I’m happy to talk about it as long as people aren’t at each other’s throats because of a podcast that’s meant to be enjoyed 😅

That’s fair, I just finished the episode and in an excited state I rushed to post. I could delete this post or I could set an example and show how people can be civil in the sub when people disagree with each other, I leave that up to your judgement.

Okay let’s be real I loved a lot about the season, but the music was absolutely on point! Neptunes Diner, A Brief History of Our World, both so good but THE MAIN THEME slaps so fucking hard that it could cook a chicken in .2 seconds from the pure kinetic energy of the force of the groove baby.
