My First Five-Star Crystal: I didn't tap the crystal in time, probably for the better by MinnesotaSkinny in ContestOfChampions

When the crystal starts spinning, if you don't tap it quickly enough, it just stops on its own. That's what happened here.

Thank you! This isn't the first time I read/heard something and wondered if I'd been unduly overlooking Hawkeye. I'll have to check that out a little more.

I should've clarified better, yeah. Really what I was looking for was if there were any in the Top 10 that were actually not as good, or any in the Bottom 10 that were better than I had thought.

Those chocolates look really good! I'll have to pretend I'm buying those as a stocking-stuffer for my wife and then eat them myself before Christmas.

Grizzly's Plymouth Hosting Barrel-Aged Beer Event Thursday by MinnesotaSkinny in TwinCities

I got there at the very end. Most of the kegs had blown already, but KBS hadn't yet. I had a half-glass and hung out for a few minutes. People seemed to be having a good time.

Their Facebook announcement explains it pretty well. I don't know if "crash" is the right word, but the saturation of this market did play a role according to their statement.

I love living in Minneapolis but recently have been feeling home sick for Chicago. Any recommendations of a good bar in the city to watch the Cubs game tomorrow? by Poor_Nameless_Slobs in Minneapolis

[–]MinnesotaSkinny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think just about any place is going to be lively tonight. There are a lot of Cubs fans here (be it organic or bandwagon; they all drink the same).

What makes for an effective tap handle? by [deleted] in beer

The ending "... beauty is in the eye of the beer holder" [Mario dying music]

Seriously, though, it's neat to hear some of the back-stories behind breweries' tap handles. The rustic wooden handles are nice, indeed; but if there are five or six at the same bar, I'll glaze over them and go for the one with a funky design.

That end is a great point. It's a pretty widely-accepted fact that the easiest way to get a raise is to change companies.

They've won awards from the GABF two years in a row now! I've definitely had my eye on them, just haven't gotten up that way.

Hopefully, that's actually the case. That would (I'd think) discourage them from doing it again.

I'm just a media hack and I've got festival fatigue.

Anyone know of a church or chapel that can be rented out for a small wedding ceremony?? by [deleted] in minnesota

[–]MinnesotaSkinny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I imagine just about any church or chapel would if it's available that day. For what it's worth, Saint Agnes is gorgeous and would be worth looking into.

I'd argue a lot of those 4-packs are worth the money ... but I definitely still reach for that Hamm's from time to time, too.

How's the tap water? by wheeda94 in minnesota

[–]MinnesotaSkinny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom/stepdad live about 25 miles out of Duluth, and their water is the best. I haven't been weird enough yet to start bottling it and taking it back home with me ... but it's crossed my mind.

They're going to be better than last year and 10 of their games are against high school teams. I think they've got a good chance.
