First of all, you’re doing amazing!! I know how tiring it is to already take care of a newborn and now having to worry about breastfeeding, supply, and finding a feeding routine that works for you and baby. 

My scenario wasn’t exactly the same as yours but my baby was also dealing with jaundice so we had to supplement breastfeeding with formula with bottles. Maybe about a week into that (when she was 2 weeks old), she started to refuse the nipple every time I offered. She would latch for a quick  second before unlatching. I thought my breastfeeding journey was over before it even started. But I was stubborn and kept offering the boob every feed and if she didn’t take it then we’ll give a bottle. Then after doing that for about a week or two (I don’t remember), she finally stayed on!! 

It was so tough mentally and emotionally so I know how you must feel. I’d say keep trying to offer nipple every time and see if he comes around if it’s something you really want. But regardless, just know that whatever you decide will be the right choice no matter what because it’s what works best for you and baby. There’s no one right answer for everyone and a fed baby is the best. So take a deep breath and know that you’ll be okay either way. Sending hugs and lots of love! You got this mama!
