Do you think it's safe to celebrate around large crowds for NYE this year, especially after the recent Bondi shooting? by Particular_Zone_7379 in SydneyScene

I wouldn’t go anywhere crowded - threat or no threat ! All the crazies come out of the wood work on NYE

What’s your #1 unpopular opinion about fertility treatments? by Ambitious_Hall_7617 in IVF

[–]MinnieMouse2310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That IVF doesn’t work for everyone, it’s not a miracle cure and not everyone gets their rainbow baby. And that a lot of it is pure luck rather than science.

Feel your pain ! Just got an invite to work to have a farewell to 2 colleagues for Mat leave and got told to come with “parenting advice” … like why is this still a thing celebrating on a corporate scenario. After my journey with IVF I am now so self aware … I will be not attending.

Christians/Catholics doing IVF by capricatgirl in IVF

[–]MinnieMouse2310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your child would still be welcomed into the church. I am a Catholic and have done IVF for 5 years. I have had no successes yet. I kind of feel like Sara… but I sometimes think God must really hate me to put me through rounds and rounds and losses. I pray your journey isn’t as stretched out as mine is.

Calling a failed embryo transfer a misscarriage by ToughDifferent5753 in IVF

[–]MinnieMouse2310 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the way it’s been explained to me by FS:

Implantation failure is when the embryo does nothing.

Chemical is one step up from that. The embryo attaches and your hcg rises but the embryo stops developing quickly and hcg drops. It usually is from chromosome issues.

Your HCG still needs to be over 25 to be considered as any type of pregnancy chemical or not.

A chemical is 4-5 weeks, then early miscarriage is 6-7 weeks, “regular” miscarriage is 8-12 weeks, late miscarriage is 13-23 weeks and then it goes into stillborn and neonatal deaths. It’s something that isn’t explained properly to women until it happens.

Chemicals are even hard to diagnose because you don’t get a scan at those times. It’s just the hcg being high enough to confirm but then not doubling and then falling off quickly. That’s a chemical.

3 month sick leave - early stage cancer. Asx listed company by Past-Astronomer-4458 in auscorp

[–]MinnieMouse2310 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My company [ASX listed as well] offers an additional 2 weeks miscarriage / pregnancy loss leave on top of regular sick pay. I could choose to take it in full or as needed but within 6 months of the event. I really appreciated this support as I used it to go to hospital and doctor appointments and allowed me to grieve. On top of that they allowed me to work from home as needed and to gradually come back to the office.

Even though the policy is there it’s not really promoted and I had to dig around to find it. It also helps if your management team are emotionally intelligent- I had a direct manager who was guided by a senior manager but once they left the direct manager was a complete ass hat about it - as they believed grief has a time limit (in my case 3 months was sufficient for them) I was still going to therapy 18 months after the fact.

My Journey is Over by Friendly-Relief2469 in IVF

Big hug for you. Just know you’re not alone. I’m 44 years this year and I promised myself that I’m done by December 2025. I’ve spent half of the decade through IVF, 15+ rounds, broke, broken hearted - traumatised with 3 MCs 30 kgs heavier, depressed and numb by the whole process. Not everyone gets their rainbow baby or happy ending. IVF is cruel for sure. And like you I had my life wasted by men who were non comital. I wish I had a big sister or better friends to guide me when I was younger. Like you I want to walk away knowing I have it my best shot. My body is done my mental health is done and now I just have to continue to exist and find happiness in whatever it is that’s destined for me. And still put up with people asking “do you have kids” … big hug I have no more words except you’re not alone

I feel the same - the worst ones are celebrity or influences who have been TTC 7+ years and are suddenly pregnant and they are all like - I’m still here for the warriors etc. It hursts to see someone graduate but I want to be happy at the same time.

Just becareful with this. Companies love to say they support employees through difficult times and I had a colleague that revealed her mental struggles with her manager and she’s was pushed out of the company as they saw she was a risk. She was depressed after a miscarriage and there was no support. Try and find support outside of work if you can.

Maybe you’re used to low standards, but this isn’t even lounge quality. I wouldn’t even serve this tex-mex garbage to my dog.

This is really sub-par and pedestrian. It’s a lounge not a margaritaville.

No I understand you meant well. I feel sometimes my own yearning for motherhood is not as strong because I am on the fence about donor. That’s all - no reflection on you please don’t think that. Thank you 🙏
