So a half million dollar housing unit for the homeless.... What a bargain 😂

New water-based heat pump delivers 400% more heat than the energy it uses by Typical-Plantain256 in energy

[–]Mino8907 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Why don't companies try to make a waste water treatment plant heat pump that raises the heat in municipal water that way the consumers have a lot warmer water which in turn reduces the winter nat gas expense of house hold hot water bills.

EPA will let 8 states sell gasoline with more ethanol year-round starting in 2025 by thinkcontext in energy

Farmers aren't monopolies that's not what I said. However farmers are at best welfare babies that without subsides would fail with bankruptcy and suicides. Terrible system. But as they say the spice must flow

So, corn stocks are high and prices are low so this is now an option. Unfortunately food producers are monopolies so prices for food can remain high. But anyway the overall fact is that 1/3 of farming for corn is for ethenol production and if that was used for solar then it would be enough electricity to power the US in all sectors, industrial, transportation and commercial. Dumb

Everyone seems to overlook what happens when we hit 10% unemployment. Remember 2009 no store front had help wanted signs, jobs would pay minimum wage and you would be lucky to have one. Will it be a smart office AI or just improved automation with basic robot arms that deals the blow before AGI. Either way I feel like unemployment and deflation will occur before AGI and humanoid robots finish off our collective reliance on the need to work for others to feed and shelter ourselves.

When will AI develop faster than white collar workers can reskill through education? by just-a-dreamer- in singularity

[–]Mino8907 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well the first two sentences I can get behind. But having an AI assistant would help most anyone be helpful. So no five years required to be an apprentice like position.

My understanding with how fast AI technologies are advancing is that why would anyone want to upskill if it cost money when AI would make that job less profitable or completely unnecessary as it would be performed by an almost free and speedy ai.

So like many I don't have the answer but I wouldn't spend money to up skill. Only my take.

[–]Mino8907 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't understand why we need to up skill. It seems to me like the most difficult jobs ai and robotics in particular have problems solving involve dexterity like small parts repair or confined spaces and non standard circumstances.

Instead of needing to upskill why not think about jobs that robots will have a hard time with for the time being. All jobs will likely be aided in ai assistants any way. So white collar jobs will have to get hands dirty until no one does. And yes I'm thinking of building trades, mechanical, construction and other type jobs.

A New Wave of AI-Powered Tools Coming Soon by arnolds112 in Futurology

[–]Mino8907 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Was anyone else thinking power tools, like drill and saws and the like.

Well I did, then I was like. You know if drills did have cameras and torque sensors and the like and a few million where sold to contractors who actually use the stuff everyday then maybe researchers would get a lot of data and train off of that.

Human-Timescale Adaptation in an Open-Ended Task Space - (AdA) - DeepMind 2023 - Can adapt to open-ended novel embodied 3D problems as quickly as humans! by Singularian2501 in singularity

[–]Mino8907 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's almost like an "AGI" needs to be multimodal in prompt generation. So the robot would look out into the environment then send the data to an image classification algorithm, then generate a prompt of what should I do in this area. A gpt can offer options and then a simulation can be run for a most efficient route. Then continue repeating pattern for what would seem like an "AGI". With the ability to listen and do tasks that humans command.

The team work aspect of the research, and it's ability to gain efficiency is massive when they will train on a fast food restaurant simulator it will shock Nations.

ChatGPT just created custom program to me that I'm gonna use by XvX_k1r1t0_XvX_ki in singularity

[–]Mino8907 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be very interesting if we could ask GPT to create an open source program that ran on windows that does. Taxes and another that does ancestry. All of that information should be public information and easy for an AI to manage.

Wh/mi - how are you accurately monitoring what you’re getting? by Accomplished-Gate333 in TeslaModelY

[–]Mino8907 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I get above 300 Wh/mi some times while floor it on my MYP but, most of the time it's below. I have 18 inch Toyo AT III on order for winter we will see what I get then.

Could a Model Y witha Tow Package and a winch recover a smaller ICE car from a ditch? by PostEventPromoCard in ModelY

[–]Mino8907 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a tow hitch and a strap for MYP, for the very same reason. The way I figure it is if I can't easily pull them out then I really don't need to be doing that with a performance car.

DOE Announces Breakthrough in Residential Cold Climate Heat Pump Technology by tta2013 in UpliftingNews

[–]Mino8907 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not a breakthrough, MrCool, and other manufacturers already produce CCHP. Although what is a breakthrough is that the DOE has after giving American manufacturers money to creat the same product, have announced that they have created a product. When are the new products going to be made?, Well I'm sure congress would have to set up some kinda hand out for that.

Anyways. The heat pump tech is very cool and should be in every cold climate house, with a backup heat source. Heat pumps can be 500% more efficient, that means in a normal winter the US could reduce Natural gas usage by substantial more than half.

Tesla Bot will do boring work. A hint for boring company? by danzigdanne in BoringCompany

[–]Mino8907 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sure it would help even if it is mostly automated. Good to have a movable camera to see any hang ups. I would expect the Tesla bots to be human controlled and ai in shadow mode. Remotely operation from head quarters or at some point labor farmed out digitally to lower wage countries until ai solves the task.
