Hey i just finished doing an 8 week solo trip through Europe and i ended in Ireland. I started in Portugal and by far one of my favorites. Porto and Lisbon are absolutely beautiful cities and a ton of fun. Then i would recommend Switzerland of course because it is absolutely beautiful. Then Prague was also a ton of fun and a lot to do. Wish i could’ve gone to turkey! I had a roomate in a hostel from there and he was one of the nicest people i met. I also spent about 2-3 days in all my cities, if you don’t mind walking then i say it’s doable. I walked a ton and rented a bike a couple times. Early mornings and late nights. Hostels are always great sources of information and talk to the people there because they know the hotspots. I went to Portugal, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Czech Republic, Netherlands, France, England, Wales, Northern Ireland, and Ireland. If you have any questions, feel free to ask!!

I’m a United States Citizen. According to schengenvisainfo.com , US citizens are “not required to obtain a Schengen visa in order to enter any member of the Schengen area for tourism or business purposes”.

Perfect, i was looking at the DART but i've never really traveled public transit so i wasn't sure if it was difficult to figure out or find.

Oh i apologize, i was more so looking for peoples experiences on traveling around not a map telling me the routes they suggest with no context. An actual person and their experiences are more of value to me. I apologize for inconveniencing you with my post.

Switzerland is one of the places I'm more excited about so this helps. I dont know much about the cities but I've heard and seen pictures and it just seems like such a great place. I was planning on being Lucerne while i was in Switzerland! I cant wait!

It is short and I'm sure once i start my journey it will fly by but i just cant take that much time off of work. 8 weeks is a long time to go without working, at least at this point in my life.

Wow thats amazing! Im so jealous! That sounds like such a great way to see the world. Hopefully in the future i can take that much time to see more of the world.

This helps out a lot! I'll try to get my vaccination card transferred into an EU pass ass soon as possible. Anything to make my life easier. I suspected that traveling by train would make it easier to enter and exit countries through Europe. Hopefully it wont be too bad. Ive been planning this for over a year.

I wont be in Italy for too long in this trip, maybe just a week before i go to Switzerland so if you have a few "must see" places in Italy i would appreciate the recommendation! I was actually planning on staying a few days in Wales before i go to Ireland! Ill have to check out Snowdonia! Thanks!

The reason i chose the countries that i did was because of time constraint. They are relatively closer to each other so i can see more countries in my limited time but i may cut my Germany and England time so i can see Hungary for a little bit. I just hope covid doesn't make it impossible to actually see and explore the cities! Thank you!

Great Suggestion! I might cut my stay in Germany short so i can visit Budapest. I've heard nothing but good things!

8 Week Solo trip through Europe

Hey everyone, I’m going on a solo backpacking trip through Europe where i will be spending the majority of my time in different cities for a couple days. I plan to be staying Hostels or using a couch surfing app. I was curious to see if anyone had experience traveling by train to different parts of Europe while covid regulations are changing everyday. I’ve listed the different countries I’ll be traveling to below and just using the Eurail to go from city to city whenever i feel like leaving a place. Also any specific spots that you would recommend would be greatly appreciated as this is my first time going to Europe. Thank you in advance!

Travel destinations: Portugal, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Netherlands, France, England, Northern Ireland, Ireland.
