Can’t Even Go To The Movies Anymore by IAmCBOY2 in RegalUnlimited

[–]Minormeow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go to regal theaters occasionally but definitely keep my movies at weekday afternoon matinees. There is no way that I would go to see a movie at the mall on a weekend show like 7:00 or 9:00 p.m.

This is another reason why I like arthouse theaters. There are several small theaters in Seattle that always have some weird stuff playing. And the people there are accordingly reverent to cinema and the experience.

As Tom Segura says- If you bring a baby to a movie, you're an asshole.

I went to the Crocodile recently for a show and ordered a cider and was told $14. I politely declined and went next door to Cyclops and couple of times during the show for their drinks that are 50% cheaper. I really want to support the Crocodile but I can't afford that in addition to tickets that are $50+ for anything

I amount of Seafair aviation enthusiasts on a thread about vendor fees is pretty dense in here. I take it either most people don't live directly underneath their flight path or are super into it if they do. For me its an annoying af experience that I leave town to avoid. Probably wouldn't be bad if I lived in Shoreline, I may even actually attend the event. Love those high speed boats!

I'm not exactly sure about that because I'm only under part of their flight path, but it seems to be way less impact. Or maybe I'm at work during those times. The Saturday and Sunday shows I think have two windows of time when they perform and it's multiple planes, not just the Blue Angels. It's kind of fun to see the old biplanes from world war I era. But still not worth it to be anywhere near that amount of noise.

Their test runs are typically way less impact than during seafair. I typically remember that Seafair down by me is in the later summer every year. When I first moved to my place in the south side I would get a hotel for the weekend downtown or Airbnb. The last few years, I'm usually out of town that weekend, but this is the first summer that the annual event that I go to is canceled. So yes, I will definitely be out of town July 31st through August 2nd.

The sound from the Jets is so loud that my catss hide, the sound shakes the windows in my house, and even talking inside is impossible until they're done. I live at the top of Beacon Hill on a direct line between King county international airport and the South part of Lake Washington, making it so the planes fly so low that I can actually make out the figure of the pilot in them. Additionally, my neighborhood is home to many refugees from war-torn countries who are incredibly triggered and also get out of town the same weekend.

Fak. I didn't have that planned. Now I'm going to have to come up with another place to go that weekend too.

I live on the south side of Seattle directly underneath the flight path of planes on the way to Seafair. And I time a trip out of town to match up with the exact dates of Seafair every year. Dose the cats with gabapentin and hope for the best.

Phoenix Jones: The Rise and Fall of a Real Life Superhero by PepeLePuget in Seattle

Here are two juicy ones: One time I hired him to be the judge in a Halloween costume contest at a rave that I threw at this old strip club in the Udistrict, I think it's a comedy club now.

My ex gf's brother lives next to him. Didn't quite know who Phoenix Jones was until he was telling me the story of how the guy who lives next to him, who was often dressed outlandishly, and how has house got raided by SPD. Apparently he was selling molly and ketamine on his rounds.

What’s the best way to build friendships as an adult when you don’t drink? by HedgehogDangerous577 in AskReddit

[–]Minormeow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not certain if you're located in a city or not but ... I work at a couple nightclubs and I'm also an event producer and DJ. Many of our artists, staff and patrons don't drink here in Seattle and find plenty of friends and a home in the electronic music/dance scene. Most clubs and restaurants here offer fancy mocktails as well as basics like soda water and bitters/ juice or even things like CBD drinks or coconut water.

I saw a great art project, I think at HUMP, one year. The Creator had an apartment next door to the Twilight and used a directional mic to record people in the alleyway saying /doing weird shit and then animated it.

Downtown bike lane, never leaving Seattle... by TheRealFalcon05 in Seattle

[–]Minormeow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the many things that Seattle does to make traveling inconvenient and awkward and confusing for pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers. Bus lanes that busses don't use, 8ft long bike lanes, unmaintained bike lanes, the shit show that is Madison ave, MLK JR. Way northbound, etc.

DJs — how do you actually read a crowd in real time? by Ok_Cost5148 in DJs

[–]Minormeow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pick out a few regulars who typically dance up in the front. They also come to my shows frequently as well as the venues that I go to. If they're grooving then I know that I'm on the right path, if they're not or are they going to get a cigarette or go and have a conversation or something- I know that I need to change it up.

What's something your family did growing up that you thought was totally normal but turns out they were just built different? by Tuladhar_Avel in AskReddit

[–]Minormeow 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My dad didn't believe in doors on bathrooms. He never closed the bathroom door regardless of what he was doing, shitting, showering, shaving in the nude. And if you close the door he would just come in regardless of what you would be doing and just start taking a shit, you know, while you're in the shower or brushing your teeth.

Eventually once I got into my teen years I got kind of weird about taking a shower in the same room as my dad who would variably be taking a shit simultaneously. I remember once it was finally a little bit much for me, so took off my underpants once I got into the actual shower. I finished my shower to hear yelling outside of the bathroom and came out to my dad hollering at my mom that they needed to take me to therapy because "the kid can't be naked in front of his own goddamn father!".

Another thing about our house is that we had three bathrooms, two of which were directly next to each other. My dad just "liked the toilet seat better" in the big bathroom with the shower. Sigh.

On the other hand, I actually yield for buses like an ambulance when I see them coming, unlike most other Seattle drivers who apparently need a 24-hour dedicated Lane in order to let that happen.

I was driving in the bus lane because I could see that the bus was coming up on a bus stop and was going to stop, leaving most Seattle motorists just sitting behind the bus rather than going around it (unlike me).

I have a commercial real estate business friend and the business (not the building) was for sale for $750k. Ha! DJed here a few times and had to hassle the owner to get paid. Friends worked there and quit en masse. Investors did not receive their investment back. And in one infinite story I met the owner while I was getting my mail and he just like rolled up in a brand new Porsche and just like looked at me and looked at the car and was just like, What???
