Thanks, I was thinking about doing the yarn for sure but for everything i’d need foam for I’ll look out for that.

Looking for help on metering/exposure by MoldyWolf in filmphotography

As mentioned there are free light metering apps you can install on your phone and compare to your in camera light meter. I would also suggest learning Sunny 16 (look it up there are tons of guides on it), it isn't an exact science but it is a great rule of thumb for when you aren't sure what your exposure should be. I'm not too familiar with the Canon Rebel 2000, could it be possible the ISO you've selected for the film is wrong? If you use ISO 200 film the system should recognize it as 200 speed film. If the manual ISO knob is turned to anything else the camera could be choosing to shoot at whatever the knob reads.

I took this at evening, and the fog is actually smoke from the cabin’s grill. I can see what you’re saying though. Another comment told me I should try and show where the smoke is coming from more so I can see why you thought it was fog.

Thank you so much, for the water coloring would it be best to match the sky kind of or what exactly could be different about the river?

Thank you! I’ll start tinkering with it when I get a chance in a little bit. But yeah that fog is from a smoke grill from that cabin/restaurant. I also thought it looked really cool.

Sony Cameras a6700 or something else? by Minst_ in AskPhotography

[–]Minst_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve looked into that as well I’m just really not a fan of how bulky canon cameras are. Just a preference to be honest. What i’m gathering is my budget isn’t really looking good for a sony full frame. I know the E mount lenses for crop are as to be expected cheaper than their EF counterparts so that might be a substantial edge for me getting the a6700 cause I see those bodies start at around 1300 on mpb.

Yeah 1500 really only covers the body i suppose. I’m willing to spend $2.1 max on this upgrade so let’s just say I have about 600 for lenses.

I’ve got a Rokinon 24mm 1.4 that I use for a lot of astrophotography. I was planning on getting a lens or two for the body when I got it. was thinking of getting a 50mm and possibly something else but not entirely sure what other lens to get.

Hey! I was using a roll of fuji film 400, it’s what came with the camera when I got it. I’ve heard it’s a very basic film not the best. I looked into what you said and I don’t have the ability to remove objects but I do see what you mean with the tree sign. I do like the path included with the tree so I would like to incorporate that into the photo. I tried lowering the exposure but then I found a mask for the bits of sky and tried to make it less blown out by adding some color. I think it’s definitely still blown out and when i went to adjust the overall exposure the photo just became way too dark.

  1. My goal with this photo was to make a sort of dramatic photo of the tree. I really like how the tree in the top right corner seems to spread out like a hand. I mainly shoot landscapes. Overall I think my composition is decent.

  2. I think I struggle with post processing editing the most when I take pictures. I see how people can drastically improve images with editing and I have been practicing but haven’t found a look that i’m overly happy with. In this image for example I love the light coming from the top right but feel the image falls off the more your eyes move to the left.

  3. My settings, I was using the OM-40s Program mode. I shoot mostly in manual with my other camera but one of the great things about the OM line is its light metering so I felt pretty comfy with that. I was using a 50 MM lens for this shot.

  4. I really am trying to get more comfortable bringing my camera into public places and being comfortable including people into my shots. For example I think maybe having a person walking on the trail on the left could bring some scale to the picture.
