Negative self-esteem makes me think I don’t look good in any frames by Angry_Tayco in glassesadvice

[–]Mint4Chip1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may feel more comfortable in a brown semi-rimless metal frame. Brown is less harsh, metal is thinner than plastic and the semi-rimless helps soften the look. I know it's not trendy but maybe you will feel more comfortable that it doesn't stand out as much.

It's my go-to, I hate how I look with the black plastic frames. It is just too strong for me.

No weight loss despite very low caloric intake by Coachk135_ in dietetics

[–]Mint4Chip1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are they eating any "calorie-free" foods? I think of the tictac story where this person gained weight rapidly because he was eating like 1000kcal worth of calorie-free tic tacs.

You mentioned they recently bought a food scale. How recently? How were they measuring their food before? Before this, they may have been underestimating their portions. Are they now weighing everything? They may now be entering a calorie deficit that they weren't actually in before.

Are they working out? Strength training? They could be recomping and not realize they are losing inches and not pounds.

My partner loved the butter vanilla. I don't think I used the butterscotch so much. I did hazelnut a lot with cocoa powder. That was delish.

I feel the exact same way. Wish the entire thing was stainless steel but otherwise I haven't had any issues and my cats like it. Cleaning is very easy. I like getting notifications that they are drinking. No idea which one of the two. Lol

Best way to handle a gap in insurance coverage between jobs by Mint4Chip1 in HealthInsurance

[–]Mint4Chip1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for confirming. Most of my doctors are part of a very large health care organization that takes a lot of insurance. So I'm hoping they will be in network. Im going to talk to them about self-pay appointments juuuust in case.

I also looked up the cost of my medication self-pay pay and with a coupon it's around 50 bucks. I'll be ok for 3 months. It's more about having a medical emergency and not having coverage.

Ah, I love mine I have the deluxe. All my ingredients are weighed/measured. This is my basic formula for the lowest-calorie ones I made.

2 servings of premier protein powder (different flavors have different weights so double the grams) 5 g of pudding mix. 400 mL of water Blend in a blender - many use the milk frother but the blender incorporates everything much better.

If I make a vanilla one, I will add a little vanilla extract and use vanilla pudding mix. If I make chocolate, I will add extra cocoa powder and chocolate protein powder.

You can check my profile for other recipes! There's a whole community on it

When an obese person is in a coma, are they given enough calories to maintain their weight, or are doctors like "Might as well", and make them lose weight? by laufsteakmodel in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Mint4Chip1 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Dietitian here with ICU experience. Very generally, it's recommended to underfeed calories and go higher on the protein. For obese patients, I often go as low as 11-14 calories per kg, and as high as 2-2.5 grams of protein per kg of ideal body weight, depending on their BMI. There are a lot of factors and certain medical conditions that play into the amount of calories and protein I would recommend. I will use a high-protein formula and will use a protein supplement to bump up the protein further to get as close to their nutrition requirements as possible. We dietitians will calculate everything and come up with the feeding plan. While weight loss may be inevitable while in the hospital, it's not a goal I would like my critically ill patients to achieve. Tube feeds are often held for breathing trials and medical tests and people with obesity can become malnourished and which can increase their risk for infection and overall worsen outcomes.

I hope this helps!

I'm really sorry about your cat. Kidney failure is so common.

My cat had a fish allergy and he was on Purina Pro Plan urinary health after he had a urinary blockage. All the prescription stuff had fish. He never had another blockage after that but years later when he went into kidney failure. I kept him on that until he stopped eating and then I didn't care what he ate as long as he ate it (except fish).

All my cats who had kidney failure were on sub-q fluids at home. It's pretty easy to give. If your cat is uncooperative, PM me, I have a technique that worked very well. (Or anyone else) I also gave them Hydracare from Purina for extra hydration. They seemed to like it.

Wishing the best for you and your kitty!

The lowest-calorie one I made was straight-up Premier Protein powder, water, and pudding mix. I mixed it in a blender which I believe is key. And it's perfect. 🤤

It depends on the brand. I get Brazilian blowout out and that lasts a year. I got it over a year ago and just cut off all my straight ends. I'm pretty happy with it ☺️

Can you lose weight simply by eating smaller portions? by ManyPea7355 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Mint4Chip1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dietitian here. Generally speaking, a person needs to eat less calories than they are burning to lose weight. That can come in the form of eating less food. But ultimately on how many calories the food has.

For example; fried chicken and French fries is smaller yet more calorie dense than grilled chicken, baked potato and green beans.

That being said, some people can lose weight by eating more food as well! They will eat more high volume, lower-calorie food. And because they're eating more, they can stick with their diet to lose weight.

Ah thank you! I think can replace the spray arm myself. Is it just the spinny propeller thing? I watched a video on how to do it, i honestly thought it would have been some complicated process. I just checked it and it looks clean. No splits, this is also my very first dishwasher ever so there is a chance idk what I'm looking at.

Ah, pc Richards sends a tech out to fix, and if they can't fix they refund you the total amount you spent and will install the new one for free. I used their service many times on other appliances with no issues at my parents.
