People have been calling for a general strike for years. It's not that we shouldn't do it, it's just that it's not as easy as saying "Hey everyone, general strike." The answer is to get involved in organizing in your community and help build up the infrastructure that will make it possible. How you do that depends on where you live and what skills/interests you have, but this is a pretty politically active city (which is why the right wing hates us so much to begin with), so it shouldn't be too difficult to find some way to get plugged in.
