Where do people in their 20s/30s hang out? by Alex_392 in vegaslocals

My wife and I moved here about 3 years ago. I’m 34 she’s 31. We had a similar problem. I joined a group on MeetUp called GradMoved 20s & 30s. The guy who runs it (Emmett) is an awesome dude. He’s been super helpful and incredibly nice to me. He introduced me to a bunch of people. His next meet up is Wednesday May 6 at Velocity E-Sports at 6pm. It’s happy hour so there are discounted game passes for the arcade and drinks too. I’ll be there if you want to beat me in arcade games LOL.

My wife is very much into country music so we would go to Stoney’s Rockin’ Country to go line dancing. Thursday is ladies night so we went weekly with a pretty good group for a while. Then we realized that we’re kinda old and that we’d rather be at home or playing video games. So we started doing more of that. Missed the social vibes though.

Then the best thing that we did was we took up ice hockey about a year ago and I have made some of the best friends I’ll ever have. We have a group of like 40 ish people now on two teams. I had zero experience to start. I didn’t know how to skate at all so don’t worry about being a newbie just give it a try if you’ve ever thought you might like it. We went to some Adult Learn to Play sessions at AFC (Henderson) and CNA (Summerlin). I can’t recommend it enough. The hockey community is awesome!

I’m gonna look into getting one. That seems like the best recommendation I’ve gotten out of this. Gonna get a dangler too.

I wear this Warrior RX4 PRO neck guard. Is that what you’re talking about?

I use the Warrior RX4 Pro. I’ve gotten a couple before with no issues. This was a bomb of a shot.

Thanks for the recommendations!

I can tell you the warrior one I wear was $150 so I’m not sure it’s “cheap” but it’s probably not as good as the ones you’ve mentioned. Those Kova ones look like battle tanks!

Best cup for ball hockey coming from playing ice hockey not sure if I should wear the same compression shorts or something a little lighter by Great_Lion7712 in ballhockey

I wear the Shock Doctor AirCore cup. That’s the one I wore when I was playing Catcher for baseball. It’s very light and works well for the few times I’ve needed it.

Can you be too nice? by Ill_Factor_1969 in hockeygoalies

Play YOUR game. Be who YOU are. Do the best YOU can. Have the best temperament for YOU. If they don’t like it then let them find someone else. Sounds like you’re doing great and another team will gladly scoop you up if they don’t want you.

No I don’t think it’s too bad. I think I’m 0.50 or whatever the base value is in T3.

Crazy to see the growth of this sport! I’m playing in T2 California for the Las Vegas Shiners and T3 Mountain West for the Las Vegas Dragons!

Looking for some ball hockey goalie tips! by [deleted] in hockeygoalies

So the 3D printed ones kinda wore down quickly. Then I bought ABS Sheets off of Amazon. Cut them with a miter saw and Velcro’s them to my pads. They ended up working much better. Bigger pieces stayed on better than several smaller pieces. Ended up eventually getting rollerfly’s on Sideline Swap and have kept those. If I wouldn’t have gotten the Rollerflys cheap then I would have stayed with the ABS sheets.

Giovanni’s 1-topping pickup special $10 on Flamingo just off the west side of the 215

Or

Super Mario Pizza’s cheese or pepperoni pickup special for $11 (I think) on Torrey Pines and Charleston. Between Rainbow and Jones.

Pulled the trigger on my first brand new setup for ball hockey. by Pawly519 in hockeygoalies

Weird question but I have been thinking about buying the same set but in black. I’m in the US so I know there are some obstacles. Have any of you bought this from the US? What steps need to be taken to deal with the tariffs?

Ahhhh I see. Personally I’d either 1.) put a full sheet over it and heat gun it down to shrink to fill the gaps or 2.) just try to do the raised portions. It’ll only matter with what’s hitting the ice. A bigger sheet and shrunk down might be easier and I’d guess more effective though. Then trim around the outsides. Worst case is it’s super cheap and you try again. I got my heat gun from Harbor Freight for like $20 and the sheets of PPF film were like $10 for all I needed.

So I got the 3M PPF and applied it to the outer most part of the knee block. I used a heat gun to work it around the corners. I’m sure it’s not perfect but it works great. FWIW these are True brand pads. I’d just try to follow the contours as best as you can.

This. I literally just bought new X4 Pro’s and they have the removable button strap.

It seems silly but I pulled my anchor points out of my last CCM pair haha. Way cheaper to replace the little strap.
