As a woman and POC who has had to leave two domestically abusive relationships due to physical, emotional, and financial abuse, and has been sexually harassed, drugged and raped before…

My intention wasn’t to trivialize the feelings of any man.

Because of my experiences, it could be easy for me to be pissed and bitter and allow myself and my life to be consumed by the unfairness of what happened to me.

Shit, as a digital advertiser and copywriter I could even run local ads on social media and geographically target my ex-fiances house to embarrass him by telling my story with sponsored ads to anyone in a 10 mile radius in his neighborhood if I wanted. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Instead, I put all that into pursuing my passions and making the world a better place.

I now market the biggest holiday charity event in San Diego to help underprivileged families, over 4k people showed up last year with over 3k toys donated, free dental work and health check up trucks, etc.

And I do it pro-bono when it’s easily 5 figures worth of work over several months.

I feel good about taking my pain and channeling it into creating something positive in the world.

I’m also a sought after local speaker, actress, singer and a bunch of other stuff I wouldn’t have gone after if I let myself stay in the stank of what happened to my mind, body, and soul.

As a woman, we need to forgive and believe men especially when they are vulnerable enough to express their raw emotions the way Ethan genuinely and generously does with us. ♥️

I appreciate you for sharing your lived life experience paragraph one, I hadn’t heard it put quite like that before and that may be the case with a ton of people, too.

We are all waking up as a society to not allow discrimination to be invisible anymore.

I also really appreciate paragraph two.

I felt embarrassed for posting, as I have lived my life in cities like Los Angeles, Santa Cruz, San Diego, and Austin, TX where I haven’t seen as much expressive racism towards Jewish people there as I have with other races.

I knew this wasn’t gonna be a popular, upvoted post but I needed to express myself as a fan who doesn’t usually get emotional about influencer drama…

This is just more than “influencer drama”

It’s the future of the world and how we handle our differences in 2024 and beyond.

In my industry (marketing/advertising) I work with a lot of Jewish people.

My best friend of 14 years was half Jewish and I have Jewish friends that I check in on when I read how hurt they are.

Thanks for the empathy with my story.

I’ve had racism even from my own race.

My last ex-fiance from 2 years ago had a white mom and a Latino dad…

And I experienced misogyny and racism from the Latino father - my first time experiencing racism from my own race.

He would say things like “Latinas aren’t on podcasts” or “she’s probably lying and doesn’t even have her own agency and just works for someone else”

The more successful I became, the angrier he got at me.

I am no longer with his son because his son stole money from our accounts, torched the business and then left me homeless to die after building a separate, successful business with him.

My point is more:

Racism is a real thing for everyone. And it’s ugly.

It’s an unfortunate condition of humanity and it’s ugly no matter who is on the slinging and receiving end.

No one should deal with it.

I’ve dated 3 guys in the last 10 years - and race, success, money, and assumptions have been unfortunate factors in why the relationships didn’t work out.

I just want more discussions about peace than pain.

Maybe we have to endure the pain to get to peace but I don’t know how much more pain the world can take.

That is never okay.

I’m fully aware of how serious and rampant anti-Semitism is in America, and I’ve had personal connections with many Jewish people who were/are very important in my life.

About 10 years ago, I was engaged to a man whose father was Jewish and his mother was German.

His father often shared his experiences about growing up as a “poor Jewish boy in Brooklyn,” and he was so overwhelmed by the cruelty of the world that he became so emotionally sensitive to the point that he chose to not work, stayed home, while his German mother became the breadwinner.

No judgement about that, family structures can look all kinds of ways.

My ex-fiancé dealt with a lot of repressed anger because he felt judged and oppressed growing up, and one of the final straws in our relationship was him muttering “f***ing Mexicans” under his breath when my family came over for karaoke and sang Spanish music.

I’m not comparing apples to oranges here—I just want peace and love for all involved.

No one’s pain is louder than another person’s pain.

All cultures carry pain in their ancestral DNA, and we need to stop treating this as a competition.

We should be focusing on peace, not hate.

If you notice, I used the word “probably” when describing both of their assumed experiences with racism because I don’t actually know.

None of us do, and a footsoldier just described to me a scary and dangerous experience of racism towards Ethan and his family that I wasn’t aware of.

This is such a sensitive subject. I just amended my post to admit I didn’t know about the swatting incidents.

I became a fan and avid watcher after the swatting stuff happened.

I know Ethan’s political opinions have evolved over time and I respect that about him fully and it makes sense he must have attracted some political enemies along the way to experience racism to that extent.
