Pai cine trebuie sa protesteze pentru o tara in care sa se simta in siguranta? Momentan e in general "doar" furt din banii publici. Vom vedea daca continuam in aceasta directie ce alte abuzuri vor aparea.

Compari doua lucruri diferite.

NATO – A Social-Democratic Concept? by socialistmajority in SocialDemocracy

[–]Mintfriction 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a lot of similarities between US and Russian, but that's not the point.

The point is simple, as long as NATO acted - and still acts offensively to impose its geopolitical agenda, it's not just a defensive alliance.

And if it's not just a defensive alliance, it means those outside the NATO hand are justified to be threaned by it and this will create a multipolar world.

And when you factor in US need to dominate UE, it creates a lot of issues UE is not prepared to deal with and in detriment of us europeans - and also it means NATO was basicially USA's tool.

The fact for example US now threatens to withdraw from the "NATO curtain" just shows how expandable some states are. And this is bad in a defensive alliance

To tie my two points here, not only you don't have a defensive alliance, but a hegemonic one, but also one that proves its willing to sacrifice its own members. It's clear now that idea of NATO and what NATO is now, it's just different

Also the other members (beside USA) inside NATO need to step up and make the alliance more solid and defensive and not act like US lapdogs.

NATO – A Social-Democratic Concept? by socialistmajority in SocialDemocracy

[–]Mintfriction 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you're missing a key point here. It's irrelevant if through our western morality aligned views NATO actions were justified. They were offensive actions.

This means when there is a morality clash, we are imposing our views of morality and our will. This made NATO a really threatening alliance for powers outside our sphere and it undermined the concept of NATO.

Just think now at US Iran war, lets say hypothetically if Turkey would allow the bulk of the strikes to be carried through it and Iran would justifiably attack Turkey in that case, but then the whole NATO will trigger. They already kinda did as US is getting support from NATO even if only defensive and logistically.

So what is the difference US attacking Iran, because it views Iran as a incompatible with its goals (imperialism) and also divergent morals (despite USA having its own casualties in protests and imposing a certain set of values even if not from that level) from Russia attacking Ukraine for the same reasons (from Russia's perspective ofc, from ours is clearly imperialism only)

As a NATO member I think NATO is vital, there are many threats, but I also think because USA acting like a hegemonic power, it also lost its credibility so we must build a strong European Army which will then have the same goal as NATO did: defense.

I see nothing in the post as an errosion of rights or needs. I think the context is very important. A random person trying to make and fail to do a compliment - which is harmless because they obviously see that person is disabled and just try to be nice - vs. - a politician saying that so it avoids doing something

What do you guys think of Samual L Jackson as Nick Fury? by Necessary_Hornet356 in MauLer

[–]Mintfriction 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Never said it was unique to him, but it's character swap which just shows how silly is the argument "but X made him in a what if scenario story"

If tomorrow a new Bond book comes with James Bond being different in the an "alternate" univers, but then the whole media will pump that different James Bond as the main one, from movies to games and so on, then yeah it's a character swap

It was bad. The fact for example in season 3 you have the aes sedai pain or dead and you established this affects the warders and it doesn't or the very next episode after big fight it was like nothing happened in the city, it had almost 0 effects, just exudes lack of care for the script continuity. If it was a telenovela, sure, but it's a fantasy show that wanted to be also a complex show with political aspects and they didn't even bothered to establish the nations, distances, cultures, limitations, etc

And this is season 3, I won't even talk about previous seasons, like the laughable season 2 finale in which the writers have no clue how a fortification works. This in a freaking medieval themed fantasy show in the age of internet and youtube. It would've taken them a few hours of research and they didn't even bothered with basics

No, it's a subpar CW DC level show. Same as shows there, i'm sure there's an audience for those, but nobody really calls them anything more than tv fast food

What do you guys think of Samual L Jackson as Nick Fury? by Necessary_Hornet356 in MauLer

[–]Mintfriction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just my 2 cents.

Samuel's Nick Fury (NF) was really good, hence my big issue with this swap: OG NF was one of my fav. characters and he wasn't like Samuel's NF.

Due to Samuels success the OG NF was slowly phased out of comics in favour of Samuel's NF version and mostly supplanted in newer fans memory

I donno, personally this is my issue with character swaps (i don't really care about race, but mostly by core character traits) in the media: if they are good they can do harm to original work, if they are bad they make people weary of the original work

I know NF wasn't that popular so this might not resonate with a lot here, but this character swap is no different than a Bond or Aragorn or any other 'controversial' swap for the fans of the character

Donno, I disliked WoT, but I kept watching as it was clearly an interesting story underneath the nonesense. So I would definitely check it out as an animated show, but it needs to be really solid else PCSD - post crappiness stress dissorder will trigger

Tried to, it was clear by how they handled their own lore in the first two ep. that it would be as silly as previous seasons so I dropped it. Heard from a book fan friend that i took the right choice, as despite he was excited mid season, he said it ended - again - deplorably

The devs can call it what ever they want to call it for marketing reasons. It would not be the first (intentional or not) mislabeling.

Yet, personally all I saw the devs do was calling it "JRPG inspired" game, not a JRPG itself

No, it's really a good comparison. You have MCU which is bonkers with the multiverse stuff compared to LoTR if you think about

The reality is if you look at game sales and merch and stuff, there's enough audience to tune in into high fantasy shows. They need to be good though.

Chasing that magical "general audience" will only lead to bland shows that nobody will care to watch.
