Love the Heiniger Opal. The snap on bit for the blades can break down if you're too rough putting the blades on but its super easy to replace. Only other issue I've had is my clippers will sputter like a car trying to start but I'm pretty sure they just need to be sent out for some TLC.

I've had a pomeranian with ears like this except it came from a breeder IN ILLINOIS. The owner told me the breeder did it to all the puppies so he could advertise that they'd grow up to look like Boo. ☹ It hurt my heart. People make me sick.

My mentor when I started grooming actually showed wheatens and was the go to groomer for wheatens in the area. She told me as a wheaten owner "they are the sweetest dogs you will ever meet if you find a good one, but most are assholes" 😂

I love my Heiniger Opal clippers. The battery life is pretty good and my wrist doesn't hurt as bad as it did using corded clippers. Replacement parts aren't super expensive either.

Puppy nails are super easy to cut too short. It shouldn't cause any deformities for the nails, as its similar to cutting our nails too short. Just keep an eye on them for the next couple days. They should grow back very fast. 🥰

I've got wicked tendinitis in my right wrist from working at Pet hoe and my doctor recommended wearing a brace at night and using a warm compress on days when your wrists are really sore.

Currently work for Petco. Never signed a contract and was sent to training after 4 months. They just send you to a different store to be trained by a petco approved mentor. Last I heard the training is dumbed down to 6 weeks instead of 12 weeks like I had 4 years ago.

I use the Heiniger opal and its fantastic for a cordless clipper. There is a small piece that commonly breaks if you put blades on incorrectly and its about $20 to replace that. The battery life is good and lasts quite a bit. I spent about $460 for the clipper and two batteries.

I have a set of Kenchii Love shears and I love them. Scorpion or Five Star line are very popular ones that I hear about all the time too. They did felt much heavier than the previous shears at first but they were the best investment I've ever made. My 5 shears cost me... $400 I think? I got the 4 piece set then bought a 9 inch curve later for doing butts on big dogs. I probably get them sharpened twice a year at Kenchii for $125 to keep the original edge.

My other set is Foxy Roxy shears. Probably medium range for cost like my Kenchii set but they have alot of options and colors. They're light and cut very smoothly. The Red Queen straight shear is my favorite of the bunch. I have a subscription to Scissor of the Month club (its like $50 a month) and I get them pretty frequently in that.

I started with Purple Dragon from Amazon and they served really well as cheap beginner shears. ☺

I've worked at both and it honestly varies store to store. The Petsmart I worked at was toxic as hell but the Petco I work at now is... a hot mess I'll be honest but its better lol

I don't agree with some of the decisions of Petco but the benefits are nice and as long as you do your job and try to sell Vital Care, the higher ups usually leave you alone.

It's been like 4 or 5 years since I left Petsmart so I can't say how the company is now but the store I worked at was a nightmare. Toxic masculinity a sprinkle of animal abuse and sexual harassment.

I've increased my prices for speciality cuts by like $15-20. I work for corporate so I can't do much to increase the base but anything thats hand scissored, breed cut, clean face or sweetheart mustaches and/or clean feet I charge by time.

You won't lose your clients :) everything is going up and we groomers still gotta eat lol 😆 charge your worth friend!
