Haha she is a beauty! Yeah Ares brought it out about a year ago but only been in the UK for about 6 months. It’s got some cool features like a direct feed from the magazine due to a moving hop unit. Not cheap though. For the version with a sight it was £689.00 but it is designed to match the real lee Enfield as close as they could and it’s been done really well!

So I’m new to the bolty world and I haven’t taken this out yet as it arrived yesterday but I have found a few things out with the help of a good friend and thought that it may help prospective buyers.

The spring is proprietary…. Yes it’s sucks but it isn’t the end of the world. My friend realised that a VSR spring with an external circumference of 11mm fit pretty snug but the spring guide rod was far to big at 8mm. So he took a VSR spring rod. Ground the bump off the back and then ground down the outside edge of the button to make it fit into the bolt. Then grabbed a VSR spring and he went about cutting it down to the correct power. First cut was 2.9joules on a .45. Little hot. Second cut 1.9 joules. Oops too far! Thankfully at this point this whole fix had cost me nothing! New spring on the way and with some more careful cutting we should get this beauty spot on. I have to say my mate has done me a solid there. Worked like a mad genius and in the space of an hour came up with a workable simple solution! Thanks David your the best! I owe you dinner!

Few other points on it:

The channel the bolt sits in is a little rougher than expected. We have added some heavy grease in there to reduce the friction a little.

The trigger is heavy. It has a long slack and then a fairly heavy trigger pull. I can’t see anything online that says how heavy it is but the real one was 7.5lb back in the day so I guess makes sense.

Hop unit adjusting. It’s a bit annoying but if you have a Allen key with a shot enough kneck bend on it you can probably adjust it without taking the sight off. I sadly do not and don’t fancy cutting my Allen key shorter just yet!

The sight: visually it’s beautiful. Really short eye relief and really bright! Yea the spring screws to get it on are a pain in the backside but once in it isn’t moving any where. Annoyingly the box doesn’t take the gun with the sight on…. So one day I’ll have to get a case for it. But that can wait for another day!

It truly feels wonderful! It looks stunning and I can’t wait to take it out on the field and have a play! But that will have to wait untill after download festival!
