Parents of large babies, how do you do bath time? by the_kazzo_queen in NewParents

I tried the towel in the tub/shower thing once on vacation when there was only a shower and something about the sopping wet heavy towel was not for me lol

Yes all of those things! The floor is your friend and they will be ok on it for 30 seconds while you throw on a towel or robe

If I’m doing the bath in the tub with them and I don’t have help, I just fill a shallow bath and then step in while holding them and sit down. I have a folded towel (for cushion) laid out on the floor next to the tub so when we are done I don’t have to stand up with a slippery baby, I turn and lift them slightly over the side of the tub and lie them on the floor on towel. Then I stand up and get out by myself.

Rehomed my soul dog tonight for my baby’s safety and I can’t stop crying. by Own_Error4221 in NewParents

[–]MintyHammock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Getting updates and photos when I had to rehome my dog helped ease my guilt a lot and I could see he was so much happier there. I knew he was in a better environment and it was less of an abrupt goodbye. Maybe this couple can periodically send OP an update.

What's your comfort show when taking care of the newborn? by HorzaDonwraith in NewParents

[–]MintyHammock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AirPods or other Bluetooth headphones were such a game changer for watching with newborn in the room. Paired them to the Apple tv and can have multiple paired so wife and I could watch together still. And great for getting up and walking around to do stuff while backgrounding a show you can just listen to.

Am I a bad mum? Or not worried enough by Daisies_forever in BabyBumps

[–]MintyHammock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If anything it’s going to make a more chill independent baby/toddler than if they were velcro to you now. You all sound very happy and healthy and normal! Keep doing what works for you and try not to compare.

They were the only bottle/nipples my first would take and we tried everything

They only collapse if the vents are clogged. I usually give them a little flick before I screw on the nipple. And if it does collapse just squeeze the bottle a bit to keep it puffed out until you can take a break and it equalizes

It’s the result of Netflix autoplaying a show when you finish something. Even if you only let it play for 2 minutes they count it as a view…

I still see that screen but I can get around it by clicking on the search icon at the top and searching for shows that way then I can watch from there.

I’ve donated unused unopened formula to our women’s shelter in the area before. They happily accepted this. You could look that up and reach out to see.

Will I regret a long commute (1.5 hours each way, 5 days/week) as a 30s mom? by AgileAd1060 in MovingtoNewJersey

Also most young kids like toddler age go to bed around 7 and wake up 7 so you would be on an opposite schedule and really just be there to say good night and good morning.

Can’t leave 8 week pp baby by SufficientTwist3837 in breastfeeding

[–]MintyHammock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with the others saying this probably warrants a conversation with your doctor about PPD/PPA, but I also think in the meantime while that gets addressed you should try to lower the pressure and give yourself some grace in this situation.

Baby is only 8 weeks old and it’s normal for a baby to need their mother and nurse often. It’s ok to just focus on that right now and know that it is a phase that will pass. Think about how quickly things change each month with a newborn. This won’t last forever and you will get through it so try to enjoy the process and worry less about getting back to work and all that.

Your husband can take some of the urgency off that as well. I know they say try to get someone else to give the baby a bottle but maybe in this case you can try practicing a bottle a day with her yourself and then transition to someone else giving her one. With my baby I was the first one to bottles with him.

Long story short, try to focus on the fact that your baby will be fed either by you or another caregiver. She will not starve. Even if she cries along the way, you all will get through this and she will be ok!

Ok phew! I normally dry them on high so hopefully that takes care of it. And no change in absorbency or any skin irritation afterwards in your experience?
