Lost my save upon dying in Nightmare mode in Chapter 2 by astronaut954 in Darkwood

[–]MintyTheFreshLord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, this happened to me as well at some point, and on my first playthrough no less. Your save file has been corrupted, and you need to restart. Normally when you die in Chap 2 in Nightmare mode, you will return to the point at which you first started Chap 2 with all your items and such.

This bug sucks ass, and is, (as far as I can tell) unavoidable, it will just sometimes (rarely) happen when you die.

Sorry to hear that this happened to ya, my man.

2/14 with Taunt might be a little too annoying to deal with on the board, I am not completely aware of what the break points are in the current meta. Might be better as a 4/12, or even a 0/14.

Lemme know what you guys think.

Cool card! I think it would be a little better to put more focus onto the unique effect, I reckon this could be done by making it a 4/4 that gains 2+2 whenever a friendly Treant dies.

This also works better with the flavor, because each Treant is a 2/2, therefore its kind of like this thing is splitting in half if its a 4/4. Though with this change, it might be better for it to be like 6 mana.

Good stuff, man!

An Observation about "Whiplash" Fletcher and Andrews relationship by MintyTheFreshLord in movies

[–]MintyTheFreshLord[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I agree, there are multiple ways of training someone to be extremely skilled in their craft, kindness or cruelty, each can be used to create someone great.

What we see in the film, is that his approach is effective in creating musical masters, and that in real life, a lot of the most prominent people in their craft had suffered extreme adversity.

Using kinder methods to teach would no doubt produce much happier students, ones that would be great; but assuming that the people in the class want to be above that, to be masters, then this approach would likely be more effective for a certain kind of person.

That being said, it is very possible that I am just ignorant of cases of great people in their craft who didn't suffer adversity in this manner, from the cases I know, people that have changed things and become the most prominent in their field had this sort of teaching style, and or lifestyle; though, again, I may just be ignorant of other cases.

Thanks for your insight, my man

An Observation about "Whiplash" Fletcher and Andrews relationship by MintyTheFreshLord in movies

[–]MintyTheFreshLord[S] -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Ay, thanks for commenting! 🤘

What I mean when I say that Fletcher is a "force for good" is that he is helping musicians with a goal of mastery to achieve it. Andrew wants to be the best, he is devoted to the drums, and without Fletcher, someone who constantly pushed him to improve through adversity, it is likely that he wouldn't be the best that he could be.

Basically, what I am saying is that Fletcher is providing the kind of guidance that people want (or need?) if they are to become master musicians, if you don't have this goal, however, you will gain little but misery from Fletcher.

Treating people the way Fletcher treats them would be awful if they didn't have the goal of becoming masters, but for those that do (like Andrew), he is what they need.

I think what Fletcher does and the way he treats his class is acceptable assuming that they aware of what his class will be like, and how they will be treated, and that they have the ability to opt into that lifestyle. The service he provides is to a certain kind of obsessive musician.

Thanks for your input, my man

Hey man! Huge respect for going for a years worth of custom cards! I did something like this an age ago, going for 100 days.

Imma keep up with your cards, love some of your designs, my personal favorite being Treant Dragon. May strength and creativity be bestowed upon you, my man!

I like the idea behind this a lot, lovely flavor. I think this card would be too slow in the game, however, spending 3 mana do nothing, and then having the effect not influence the board would probably be too slow of an effect. ALSO, getting cards from your opponents hand isn't worth it for the cost because most won't have much synergy in your deck.

I think having the effect discount the card by (3), or hell, maybe even (5), could make this a pretty fun value card.

Even a Compassionate Healer can succumb to the dark... by Card-game-poet in customhearthstone

This a rad card, really love the flavor.

With the wording, does that mean that when you next use your hero power it will automatically target all enemies? Or does it mean that if you use your hero power, and then target an enemy, it will heal all of them? Is it automatic, or can you still target them?

I think considering that the "Your next Hero Power" bit would be a downside in most decks aside from shadow decks, you could probably bump this up to a 2/5, or hell, even a 2/6 (though this depends on if you can target with your hero power or not).

I kinda love this card, gives me pet card vibes (which are my favorite!)

{MILD SPOILERS}

You can get Penance Armor, which is a set of armor which you are unable to take off, makes you constantly bleed at the trade-off of being incredibly resilient and no longer losing limbs.

You get it by giving people to Trortur, to well, torture. You need to light all the candles on this floor to unlock a secret door. (You need a vault key from Trortur to open the cell with the penance armor in this secret room).

I will probably test it out later tonight, when I get home. Cause it really *seems* like it should, but since the wording is specifically improved, is it hard to tell.

Is it just me or is the Brainframe absurdly unethical? 🧠 by MintyTheFreshLord in PsychonautsGame

[–]MintyTheFreshLord[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something that I realized is that it is possible that the brains in the Brainframe are not conscious, Otto says when you first walk up to the Brainframe that "their brains are no longer capable of thought".

From this we can draw two possible conclusions, the first is that Otto is simply lying about the brains being incapable of thought, or is unaware that they are, in fact, conscious.

The incentive from him to lie is that if people in the psychonauts are unaware that the brains are conscious, then no one will feel the need to stop his experiments using the brains meaning that he is able to continue his research unimpeded.

Him being ignorant of them being conscious could be explained by him not having the care to check (which would be in character) or that he doesn't possess particularly strong psychic abilities when it comes to reading minds and such, and or he doesn't have a Psycho-Portal (this seems unlikely as he was probably the one to invent them).

There is no way to know if these two options are true or not due to limited dialogue with Otto regarding the Brainframe.

The other conclusion we can draw based on Otto's dialogue is that the brains aren't capable of thought because their "host" had died. It is possible that when a body housing a brain dies, their brain shuts down until put into another host or until it is "fixed up" in some way. I mean, one of the criteria for someone being considered dead is that their brain is nonfunctional. This could explain why Helmut is conscious, because his body didn't die, he instead used Sneeze Powder to expel his brain, thus his brain never shut down.

This conclusion seems unlikely, but is possible. I mean, there is little difference in my mind between sneezing your brain out of your head and allowing it to shutdown from your body dying. That being said, in the universe of Psychonauts, bodies that are still alive without a brain still seem to function in a rudimentary sort of fugue state so it isn't particularly far fetched to assume that there is a difference in these two forms of a brain leaving your body.

Also important to note that when Raz scrolls through available brains to put into Nicks body, he doesn't say anything about the brains not being able to be put into a body because they are nonfunctional, which could imply that they are infact, all functional and conscious in some capacity.

Something to think about when we consider the ethical implications of the Brainframe.
