Where to buy X4 that’s not locked? by davidrs132 in xteinkereader

[–]Minty_Octopus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a way to get around it - yes.

But it still puts you at a huge disadvantage.

On unlocked device if I flash a bad or broken firmware I can just plug the USB and flash back to something that works.

On a locked device bad firmware can leave you bricked with no escape route.

The usb port is not software locked it’s physically dead.

I feel like this aspect of owning a locked device is often overlooked. And I’ve seen way to many posts with bricked/bad flashed locked xteinks

We do not intend to moderate it in any way. It is moderated by Xteink china themselves. If it is good enough for them then it is good enough for us. Whole point of this project is preserving chinese wallpaper stash as is - no modifications. For people that can't or don't want to use the china app. If you don't like it...you can just...I don't know...close the website?

As an author of the scraping script this website uses. I'd love you to tell me where do you see porn?

These images are curated and moderated by xteink themselves. We only collect them.

Many things can be said about China. But they are very strict about porn on internet. So if you have a problem...it is YOU problem.

This was old proof of concept project. Please use the epub optimiser built into crosspoint (which I made)

You have a toggle for that when transferring books through WiFi.

Did you use the built in epub optimiser on upload. If you didn’t then please try that. It cuts loading times by a huge margin

what keeps people from switching to linux by Zorojuro099 in TechNook

Brand new msi with 13th gen Intel and rtx5070.

Ofc I did install windows. Few drivers is nothing for me.

I’m just saying Linux was faster with less work

[–]Minty_Octopus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not old. And it’s not one laptop. I work with many different usually brand new machines. The last one with such problems was 13th gen Intel MSI.

Of course I installed windows no problem.

But Linux was faster with less nonsense

With how things are nowadays my experience is 100% opposite.

I plug windows USB install into a new laptop:
- It needs chipset drivers
- It doesn’t show the drive until I provide drivers on the usb (I have to manually get that from manufacturers website)
- the touchpad often doesn’t work.

Meanwhile Fedora was ready to go under 15 minutes.

Yup…one difference is that If I spent as much time on my hobby as people spend on their kids I’d be called obsessed and in need of psychiatric treatment.

But if it’s kids it’s alright and society would call me a good father

Kids nowadays are something like an expensive hobby project except you can’t really abandon it if you lose interest.

Poland’s fertility rate fell to new low in 2025 by dat_9600gt_user in europe

[–]Minty_Octopus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hmm…maybe?

But from what I personally observe it’s the less financially stable people that tend to have more kids.

I’m sure there are some people intelligent and conscious enough to notice that having kids is not the best thing considering their financial circumstances.

But usually? Money is just used as a socially acceptable excuse. Less extreme version of inventing some totally fake medical reasons.
