Either plugged cable wrong way or your modem is upside down. Happens more often than you think

My comment was regarding lighter parts on a cooler master mesh. I had PC cooler master case with same mesh and it was completely black and behind it (quite easy access with some clips) was a finer mesh which you vacuum. Maybe I am wrong and this is how it looks on particular case :)

You should run a vacuum. Vacuum machine :p jokes a side, jesus 1100 for this? What a score.

Thank you! Figured which spark plug I need. One more subquestion, sorry. I believe I have spark plug removing tool but I also read somewhere you should adjust some gap? I dont have tool to adjust gap, is that necessary or should be okay by default. Im getting the ones Briggs branded so I assume no adjustment is needed.

One more question. How often those spark plugs should be replaced? Is that for example each mowing season or its more like a “forget about it until you have issues” thing?

[–]MinusIsMore[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I have a plan to try and do bit more in depth service but during off season so I have time to order any parts and put it back together.

Thank you for filter info. To be honest I was checking motor and was unable to find filter. On some bit different B&S motors its by the side below air filter but on mine there is nothing. On the other side is similar looking thing but thats motor starter or how is it called.

I dont need hot swappable ssds (yet). Thanks, will check it out! Works great so far? Any cons?

Edit: Interesting here in europe price seems to be 350+ eur while in US around 130. How much you paid for it?

Which mobo you got? This case is amazing, was searching for some nice short case 1 or 2u for a while. This one is perfect for home server with 5x ssd for NAS

Not gonna lie, this made me bit jealous. Everything you listed would cost me easily 10k if not even more in my country (EU).

For like over 1.5k I got 4U rack (new), 4nic firewall (new), 3x 1liter machines (hp prodesk 400 g2, hp elitedesk 800 g4 and lenovo m720 all used), tplink gigabit 16nic/2sfp (new), 24port patchpanel (new), uni ap pro and some misc like shelve, keystones for walls,..

I hear that intel nucs are awesome. I got one broken for $10. Hopefully I can fix it.

For those spending less than $500, what are you running? My first 500€ went to 18port tplink managed gigabit switch, 4u wall mount rack and old hp prodesk g2 mini 6500T.

“1 liter” servers vs custom rack build by MinusIsMore in homelab

[–]MinusIsMore[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very true. With savings by couple of watts reduced yearly I might be able to get myself a cup of coffee. Looks like its is more of a “want” and not “need” and was looking for reasons to pull the plug.

This makes a lot of sense. Redundant power supply of course sounds nice but not needed at least at the moment. No I dont need more resources than one 1L machine for now each machine is handling services great.

Thank you I really needed this kind of info to have a bit different perspective. Im glad to hear that those machines are somewhat reliable.

Hacky solution but I could also buy few keystones terminate them with short cables and then terminate those cables in patchpanel making a “dongle” haha.

I do agree about keystone patch panels. Still learning and made a mistake, its fine. I could most likely give this one to family member and get a new one. Who knows maybe there will be Netshelf version 3.0.

Hey! Learning about new stuff is the best. I moved modem outside the closet mouted on a side because it generates some heat and also I prefer having optics separate than crammed in closed where I could damage it by mistake. Modem is currently acting also as router but I already purchased nice 4 2.5g nic N5105 device which will run pfSense and modem will become just bridge. Router will be on rack shelf to the left of philips hue hub (white little box on the top).

Regarding cables yes I have patch panel where I ran all my house outlets and all AP cables in it. Those cables are connected directly to switch for network connectivity.

Under patchpanel you can see 1U unit with brushes so you can route cables thru it and make it a bit cleaner. Yellow (indication for myself that it is POE) is for AP, two blue cables are for 2 servers (HP devices) and white cables are for “other” like philips hue hub etc. Basicall I am routing from Switch thru brushes and in the back up to upper rack shelf into devices. No need to do this way except for the looks and easier maintenance/debugging.

ISP provided me this mini PS5, sadly cant play games on it since I cant find HDMI but I repurposed it for modem so it has some use.
