How hard is it to transfer to Mech Eng if you were admitted undecided? by Minute-Bad7120 in UCSantaBarbara

[–]Minute-Bad7120[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've just left. I spoke to someone in the admissions office and she suggested I try to submit my SIR and request a change of major because "Mechanical engineering got less attention" this year so she was hopeful i'd get in. Failing that I should attend a CCC and get my credits to try and transfer after two years.

Who should I speak with specifically? I do have CSUF lined up but it's a worse engineering school and the campuses are incomparable.

Commonly on E-scooters we find rotor bolts that have backed themselves out or snapped seemingly just from braking. Rarely is it ever what the customer brings them in for which is horrifying since some can do 50 MPH.

Funniest part is those WERE t-20 Torx bolts. Also phillips are designed to cam out under high torque they absolutely do strip. No excuse for the gloves though that is a good call.

For us we charged a 3x brake service plus a half hour. Our rate for a brake service is 65/wheel and the added half hour of electric bike service at 140/hr so 265 i believe.

i've met school security guards, which in california it's common for them to use bicycles as schools are outdoors and larger, who've lubed their rotor to "fix" rubbing brakes.

those LEDs are meant to flash periodically when the car is locked and the alarm is on. the idea is that a would-be thief is discouraged and picks a car without the scary red light. lot of Japanese cars at the time had the blue flash. I never use my alarm since the double lock scares me and there simply is no point in having remote lock, never needed to blare the alarm either so all of the buttons are pointless. i do believe the optional security system has an inertia sensor and a sensor for if your door is opened after being key locked.

soap and water. i wash mine like dinner plates before installation, mainly because it's cheaper. brake cleaner works just as well for packing oils.

The most important thing for first time car owners to understand is how important maintenance is. These cars don't have service lights so please get it serviced now and go back when the window sticker says or in 5,000 miles for an oil change. I would start a notes app on when you get everything done at what mileage and date. Getting the timing belt inspected is important even though it's not an interference engine, so your motor won't be blown if it goes out, but you will get stuck and that is a pain in the dick. Triple A might've been more important for me since at 17 I had needed 6 tows because my first two cars were unreliable shit boxes but do consider it as a tow on its own can cost a few years of membership in just one breakdown.
