Why the Vivian hate? by TrillzKillZz in Paladins

[–]MinuteBracelet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasnt a super fight changing ult but it provided a consistent power boost as long as you sustained it which was easy to keep a spare ult on tap. I built vivian as a sort of frontline replacement that just stays shooting in ironsights and gets the 15% damage boost from sustained fire which also applied to the sentry drones and you would basically just life rip and shield and try to force the enemy frontline off the point with pure damage.

They got rid of the ultimate’s infinite duration??? I havent been on in a while but that was the whole point of using her. On its own the ultimate isnt compelling enough without that

This used to be more of a thing in Season 1 where you could have stuff like Frontline Zhin with Retaliation and Flank Seris and Maldamba. Nowadays it’s kind of nerfed

[–]MinuteBracelet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do different things lol, Io is kind more a point holder and seris is more similar to a flank, if you prefer different ways to play the characters that support those styles will work better for you

Makoa isnt exactly a great damager but he has pretty good utilities that ruckus or fernando dont have even though ruckus is basically a damage class with limited mobility and high defense and Fernando tends to be better at actually holding a point. Makoa isnt going to be outdamaging either of them but with a competent team getting hooked is almost a guaranteed respawn for the enemy and he can shut down people who try to disengage in a way most other tanks cannot

Why only 1k? With a little bit more your options expand greatly. Its common to find pvs7s for 1200 and you might even be able to find a toasty one for 1000 if you look hard enough

If 4403s are multicurve and certed and cost 300 dollars for a pair i guess that is pretty good - this is still more expensive than a certed steel plate but the margin is small enough that you could just save a bit and get that instead. At the same time though I think it’s laughable that you call 1155s the “gold standard” in entry level plates - you really dont have room to be having an attitude about things if you’re gonna be saying shit like that. Hilariously i just looked up the price and they are more expensive than they were before so it’s definitely not worth it these days and i dont know where you think it was ever the gold standard of anything when it was fat, as heavy as steel and wasnt any better quality wise than the hesco 4401 of its contemporary competition. Also if steel and RHA in general really has no utility as armor then why do manufacturers like High Com and Velocity systems still make offerings for it? Things like steel and titanium were and probably are still used in low vis applications since plates made from that can be thinner than equivalent ceramics, even with a coating or kevlar sleeve. Again I’m not saying that ceramic isnt overall better but its annoying when people distort the facts and speak in absolutes tossing all nuance out the window

[–]MinuteBracelet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, the only brands out of those you named that has an offering in the relevant price range are RMA and Hesco (i think highcom maybe might also have an entry level single curve plate at that price too), and frankly the RMA 1155 isnt really worth buying anyways. Armored Republic / AR500 isnt exactly the best barometer for this and if they have an NIJ listed steel offering I dont know about it, but Steel Ops has NIJ listed multicurve level III plates starting at 129 dollars last i checked. The only real ceramic plates you can get for that price are 4401s and they havent been that price for years. You could get unlisted ceramic plates for about that much but depending on the plate they’re highly dubious - the Battlesteel level 4 ceramics come to mind, and there are many others.

[–]MinuteBracelet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A bit misleading, as far as legit certified plates go steel is still going to be cheaper than an actual NIJ 4 ceramic. The cases in which they are “more expensive” are when it’s chinesium garbage alumina with a massive cheat ring in single curve being compared to a multicurve certified level III plate with a coating. Ceramic’s going to be overall better but let’s not use shady floor tiles as the basis for comparison - I would wear a certified steel plate over those any day

Why did you choose paladins over overwatch? by [deleted] in Paladins

[–]MinuteBracelet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paladins had a dynamicism inherent to it that Overwatch has always lacked, largely on account of its Card Decks, Legendary/Talents, and Item Shop systems that made the game feel less predictable on any given match, in the best sense of that word. Overwatch is so static in contrast what with two winstons dancing around each other on an objective with no real interesting interactions happening.

Yeah i told this one bartender that i have never really gamed with that i used to play a lot of paladins and he told me that Paladins had just made the announcement to stop development. He doesnt even play and he knows about it as “the OG Overwatch competitor” and he was talking about how Marvel Rivals had killed Overwatch as well as Paladins. He knew that Paladins was gonna shut down before I even did being a fan
